A person who doesn't speak your language very well tells you a joke...

What do you do? Do you laugh politely or honestly explain you didn't really get it? I've been in this situation a few times when a good joke gets ruined by incorrect wording. Not that I'm mean, sometimes I wasn't able to express myself either:)

I would just laugh and then change the subject. I do the same thing when people talk to me in spanish assuming I speak the language. I laugh politely and then walk away...

I probably laugh politely. Because sometimes jokes are told in my language by people who speak it, that I dont get, and instead of feeling stupid, I laugh and pretend I got it. It's no fun when the person telling the joke has to explain the joke, so I just let it go, and move on.

Good choice, the joke indeed loses it's meaning if you have to explain it.

depends on how well i noe the other party. but in any case, i'd just laugh it off and change subject. i would want to ridicule and make the other party embarrassed.

Pretty considerate. One thing I've noticed is that there is a bunch of jokes in different languages that have the same content and each nationality takes credit for them:D
