my computer conked out, I am using my son's old computer, it is not stable that is why he had to get a new one, if this one goes, I will not have access to any computer and I will not be on the net anymore, I don't have the kind of money to buy a new computer or even a second hand one. Today the computer (son's old one) went down, I went to bed I went into a massive depression, I cannot live without my computer, I can't enjoy myself, or make money to pay my bills or even write as you know that is my passion. I don't know what I will do if I lose access to a computer. my computer is the most important material thing I have in my life, as I am disabled and I rely on it to communicate with the outside world, to enjoy myself, and to write to enjoy myself or write to make extra money. how would you feel if you no longer had access to a computer?

That really sucks! I hope that your sons doesn't go out on you. I would be lost without my computer too. i use it for all my pictures and music. it's how i make money.. it's how i enjoy myself as well. i don't have many friends so i am always online to pass the time. if i lost my computer, i would go into depression big time... some people think "well, its just a computer" and it is.. but it allows you to see the world without leaving your home. so for people who have no friends or can't leave their house.. a computer is like a best-friend. so without it i would be lost.

"It allows you to see the world without leaving your home." I totally agree with you man! Like you, I don't have many friends as well. But computer gave me something to deal with such as playing games, earn money online, etc. It has so many benefits that you can't even say it's a junk.

Be without a computer? I think that I would want to slit my throat! LOL Listen, it is going to be o.k. You are going to get a computer from somewhere. I used to write and couldn't imagine not having access to a computer now. I use the one at work in my breaks and after work and I have a laptop at home but the one at home is dial up which is a great pain but at least I can get on line. I am so sorry that this is happening to you and I will really pray hard that the one you have will last until a new one comes. Keep strong and have faith. Blessings.

Me and my husband both had a small taste of losing the internet this week but not a computer. With all the ice and below zero temps our internet has been on and off for days now. Monday it was out for 6 hrs during the day and I felt like I was going thru withdrawals! I kept wanting to check the weather and temperature, my e-mail, etc. and I couldn't do any of it. Thank goodness we now have two spare computers in case our main computers go out. My stepdad bought a new desktop and a new laptop for his job so they gave us the old ones. Both are less than 2 yrs old and in great shape so we lucked out there. Being disabled myself also, I would be lost without my computer. It's pretty much my lifeline to my family and friends, news, my favorite forums, weather, just about everything. I hope you can get one or the other fixed soon. Maybe you can swap parts and find out where the problem is? I hope you can get it working. Good luck to you rose!

I can understand why it's so depressing for you to lose your computer since you are so dependent on it and need it to make money. I have a desktop computer that's about five years old but it still works and I have a laptop that I bought last December. After I got my first computer I didn't know how I survived without it. Well I do, I used to read a lot lol. Now I read for school but I need my computer to do schoolwork on the internet. I also use it to keep in touch with family and friends. I would probably be really bored if I lost access to my computer because it's what I use for entertainment along with doing work. If it was around school time and I lost access to my computer I would be really mad because I need it then but if it were temporary and I was on vacation or something (that happened last summer with my laptop but I still had my desktop) I would probably try to find something else to do with my time until I could get it fixed. I really hope that you are able to fix your computer and that nothing happens to your son's old computer since you need it. Take care.

The computer is my only source of income at the moment so I would be absolutely lost without my computer. It would depress me as well. I can't pay cash for a computer but I would be headed out to the nearest rent to own center thats for sure!

I am currently using my husband's computer. Mine started acting up about one month ago. I really would rather be able to use mine. My husband finally tried to work on it today, he wiped everything out and reloaded windows xp. Now everytime I try to respond to a discussion on Mylot, I get a send report window coming up, then my window just closes out. It is still not fixed. If he can not fix it, i am basically without a computer either. I can not afford to buy another one.

I said that in the second sentence of my post, I am now using my son's old computer, and that one might soon not work already, it stopped working earlier today and he has fixed it once already. So what I am saying is if that one goes for good too, I will not be on the net anymore.

Oh God, don't even go there! I absolutely panic when my computer is out. First I think who do I call? I am just a wreck! I have found some good service people through Hewlitt and Packard, the name of my computer, but they always have really bad English and are from Africa or somewhere strange like that. However, when my computer crashed, they have stayed on the phone with me up to 8 hours walking me through steps to get it back in order all for FREE.

I have been there..I had to go without internet for 2 months and I was having withdrawals symptoms like crazy..although I was able to catch up on chores and reading. Which I would have traded straight up for a few minutes online at the time. I am back on my old one since I had to reformat my newer one and accidentally deleted the modem and didn't have a disk to put it back on. I still haven't gotten it fixed and it has been a week. I miss my newer one alot. It was faster and more efficient. I am thinking you could find a way to set up a fund so people could donate a little here and there for you a new or good used computer I am sure it would be a worthy cause to keep you our friend online, because we would miss you so..

I didn't know you could delete a modem, this one is working fine now, I just hope it will last a year or so and then I might be in a better position to get a new one.

Sorry to hear about your computer conking out, glad you at least have your son's old one. I am hoping you will find a huge, great, give away deal on one so we don't lose you. I brought a couple of decent ones over the years from yard sales. Hope you have that kind of luck. I would be so lost without my computer. It is my main contact with the world. Especially with email and instant messaging. Most of my time is spent on here. I look for free patterns for my crafts, recipes, books, you name it, it is probably on the internet. Life would be a whole lot narrower without the computer. I know people always say you can use them at the local library--------- my sister told me that in her town the library now charges to use theirs!

yes the libraries charge and they don't allow you to stay on it all day either because other people have to use them too. thank you for being so sweet, We are hoping that this one will last at least another year. Yep you need the computer as much as me.

People just have no idea how important computers can be to those of us who have limited mobility. And where you live it is even more limited than mine. Fortunately for me I live in a very warm place so don't need heavy coats, boots, gloves and hats to go out, when I do get out. I also have a super husband, who helps me so sweetly.

Dear friend, I hope for those when computer becomes a close friend or something addicted to or may me someone to share many things I hope it would be missing some one beloved whom we love most. Hence I could just know the feeling. But I do experience a taste this feeling when ever I am away from my computer and and when I need most my computer if it is not available I could taste the feeling of its value.

My dear friend, I am in the same boat as you. My computer is my life. I am sitting here working most all of the time I am awake. I would go into massive depression also, as I have done it before when my computer went down. Two years ago, we lost power because of an ice storm and were without power for four days. I was absolutely lost and totally distraught. I asked for my son who lived with his father to bring his laptop to me so I could as least use it for a while up at the local Dairy Queen that had power. When he left, I cried. No way to make money. No way to check on my friends. No way to check my email. Needless to say, I feel so sorry for you and you will be in my prayers for some way to get a computer. Happy MyLotting! Char

no money in the budget for a computer, I can't even make ends meet now even making money on line because it is not steady income, some months I do really good other months I make harder nothing at all.
