Which age do you think is the best age to move out of your parents home and onto your own? I hear about people moving out at seventeen and stuff. That's just crazy! With the economy the way it is, I'm twenty years old and still live with my mom. I'm going to keep living with my mom for quite some time too.
So what's the best age to move out? Does it all depend on the person?

Yes, it depends on the person. In order to live independent of your parents, one needs to have a steady income and it would be nice if there was potential for increased income down the road. I moved out at 19 when I was married. My brother moved out at 18 because he and a friend of his were going to share an apartment. Regardless of what age you decide to move out, you should always be working towards a specific goal after graduating from high school.

I was 17 when I left home to live at college, but I still came home on breaks and such. I'll be moving out for good in May when I graduate, and I'm 21. I think it depends on the person, but also on the person's parents and what they are comfortable with.

I think it depends on the individual. If you're a mature, responsible person, then you probably could move out at a young age and make it. But if you're not, and you happen to be person who is totally dependent on others, you're going to run into a world of trouble. A friend of mine moved out on her own after graduation (I feel she got kicked out, but that's a different story). She was doing alright at first because she kept dating girls that were basically taking care of her, but that came to an end. She had to end up moving back with her mom and dad. I just feel it pays to stay with your parents until you've matured enough to make it on your own.
