Does anyone own a waterbed? What do you like or dislike about it?

I have never owned or been on a waterbed. Do you like it or not like it? Is it expensive? Would love to know more about it. :-)

I really miss my water bed. I have a bad back and it was warm and fluffy. But I bought a mobile home and had to get used to good back support. It still isn't the same after 5 yrs. I miss that bed.

had a waveless water bed. You could adjust the firmness and it had heat. I would not have another one. An air mattress is more comfortable

Wow. I am surprised to hear that an air mattress is more comfortable. I like the firmness and heat part that you mentioned.

I used to own a waterbed for many years. I loved it. Then I was one of the causes to my back pain so I switched to a nice pillowtop mattress. I definitely noticed the difference in my back pain and comfort. But besides that it was nice.

my husband used to have a water bed when he lived at his parents. i didnt like it. it doesnt mold to your body like a bed does, i always woke up with back pain or a neck ache. if you would decide to get one, i would suggest getting one with a built in heater because the bed and the water within it gets sooo cold. heres a + =)

Had one. It's nice in the beginning. After awhile it stretches, so you sink into it. Also, you need to make sure the heat is up, or it will draw the heat out of your body. Not much more than a good matress.

I had a waterbed once. It was okay. But I hated it when my partner wanted the water to be warmer than I wanted it. It made me hot. So we adventually got a regular bed because it was the cause of many arguements.

Wow. Thank you for telling me that. Sorry to hear that you had arguments about the water temperature on it.

I used to have one a long time ago and totally loved it! It was a waveless, but I had one before it that was not. If you would decided to get one I totally recommend the waveless one. It felt so good to sleep on the heated waterbed in the winter and then to have it so cold during the hot summer months. I truly miss it, but I ended up getting rid of it when I remarried. We have a memory foam one now, for my husbands back.

I have owned a waterbed, and I loved it. I owned the type that looked much like a regular mattress, and it fit into my regular bed frame. (I guess that is what everyone is terming "waveless.") From what I remember, the problem with waterbeds is the weight. Otherwise, it was a very comfortable bed.

No, we don't have a waterbed. We have a select comfort bed. It's really comfortable. I sleep better on this one than the one I had when I was home with my parents. I tried a waterbed once in the story, it's like you're sleeping on the wave. I don't think I want to sleep on a bed that moves all night long. That would be very uncomfortable.

No, I dont own a waterbed. I dont like it because it seems like youre a fancy person if one person owns a waterbed. Just have a simple, sleep-on-correctly bed.

I used to own a floation bed, which is kind of like a water bed, but instead of the water being lose in the bed, it was in like 5 tubes. It was comfortable for a long time, but over the years it got worse and worse. We just recently got rid of it and I miss it, but know it was for the best. I had had it since I was like 10 or so.

I guess like any bed that it wears down and can be uncomfortable. I just replaced my regular queen size bed recently after having it for almost ten years.

I have the most comfortable bed in the world. I have a 75% motionless water bed. I used to have backaches everyday until I got my bed. I have had it for 25 yrs and would not dream about sleeping on something else. Its instantly warm and comfortable and you can make it cooler in the summer. Waterbeds are really not that expensive. Regular beds cost more money. When I go on vacation and have to sleep in a reg. bed, my back kills me. I have had no trouble sleeping with someone else in it. I would recommened a water bed.

I had one for several years. It has its good and bad points. A waveless one is definitely best, but with time it starts to wave some. I don't recommend it for someone with back problems. It was nice in the cold weather because it was warm but I had to put a thick pad on my side of the bed because my husband liked it warmer than I did. In the summer I turned it to a much cooler setting and that was nice to, but both my husband and I began to have back problems and had to get rid of it. Pricewise it is about the same as the conventional beds. The kind of bed I think is best (although I don't have one) is the air type with controls to change it from firm to soft and both sides of the bed have their own settings such as a "sleep number" bed.

I have never owned one, but I have slept in a waterbed before. I did not like it because of the movement of the water throughout the night. People say you get used to it, but I prefer a regular mattress.

I don't own a waterbed, and I don't think I'd want to. Mainly, it's because I'd be worried the bed would burst and the water would ruin the floor, and maybe even get in the electrical outlets (which are close to the ground & near my bed). And considering that I have two cats, the bed bursting seems fairly plausible. Also, I doubt waterbeds provide good support for your back & neck. All that sloshing around wouldn't be supportive & would just cause back & neck trouble. I would like to lay on a waterbed though, just to see what it's like, but I would never buy one with the intention to use it as a bed to sleep on.
