Just To Get Rid Of It

I've just recently replaced my TV because the old one wasn't working 100% anymore.
Now I have the task of trying to get rid of the old TV.
It's a Philips 52" floor model. It isn't perfect, that's forsure. But it still works for watching TV, it just has an issue with hooking up to the DVD player, and it has some slight scratching on the screen.
Well, we've been trying to get rid of it for a few days. We were supposed to give it to a friend, but that friend is taking his sweet time about coming to get it.
I wanted it gone by today, it's taking up too much space and we're having company tomorrow.
I posted it on Craigslist, but only 1 person seemed interested in buying it, I gave them details and everything, they offered $50 for it which I said I'd take. But then I never heard back from them.
Well now I'm to the point where I want it gone so badly that I'm willing to give it away for free so long as someone can come and get it today!
I know I can't get too much money for it considering the problems, and I'm not even sure if it's going to work for too much longer, but I feel that since it is working, I could get something for it.
What would you do? Would you wait just to try to get a little money for it, or would you give it away for free just to get rid of it?

If it was taking up space in the house and I could not get rid of it then it would be put at the bottom of the garden to go to the tip! I would not try and get money for it unless it was working properly and so if I could not give it away then it would just be binned.

I was only asking $100, considering we bought the TV for over $1,000 that's not bad. Plus it works, you just can't hook a dvd player up to it is all.
But I've posted it on a Freecycle website, and have had people interested in it. I'll probably be getting rid of it, just not getting anything for it. Oh well. We were going to give it to the friend for free. I just want it gone.

no, it is not a bad price, but I sometimes find that people seem to want things for next to nothing. Also a lot of people do not seem to want to buy things second hand these days even though they may not have the money to buy new. If I lived nearer to you I would have it cos my daughters dvd combi bust the other night so we have to go and buy her a new one now!!

Oh, steer clear of those DVD/TV combos, they're nothing but trouble. That's exactly what happens, one goes and you can't use the other. It's nuts!
Hubby works with electronics, so he's good about knowing what to stay away from.

I think I'd just tell someone they could have it for free, if they'd just pick it up today. You have a new one and someone else may not have a TV at all. But, today being Christmas Eve, you may not have any takers today.

Well that's exactly what I did, and it's gone! Yay. That was easy.
