I do save some receipt for a while. If it is for electronic item then I will keep it longer about a year. if it's clothing then as soon as I'm sure they will fit I throw the receipt away. I have started saving grocery receipts so I can make a log to see which is the best store to by my groceries at. I can also see what I buy most often

I keep my receipts for a while. I normally get rid of them after I make sure that I am keeping the item and there is nothing wrong with it. The exception of course is with gift receipts. Then, I keep them until I make sure the person is ok with the gift and does not need to return or exchange it. Some people keep their receipts for a very long time, but I find they they take up a lot of room. I try to keep my receipts fairly organized and get rid of the ones I do not need. This way they are not overflowing from my drawers.

I don't keep the recipt if it's something we're definitely keeping, or if it's for food. I do keep the receipt for some items if we're not sure we're keeping it, or if we're not sure it's the right item.

I save my receipts, I have a box marked receipts and when I buy something that might need returning, for instance, televisions, computers, radio etc. I put them in that receipt box. I got this idea from my cousin. I admit I do have some in there that need to be thrown out. It is better to be safe than to be sorry. I would advise everyone to save their receipts.

I always keep the receipts with me if the purchased item is very costly and depends upon it validity. this keeps me to maintain the receipts and accounts. Moreover i dont think that most of the recepts are valid for not more than 2 years. So its wise to keep them safe for some time.

I only keep the receipts for the following reasons: medicines - because they are reimbursable to my company. credit card receipts - because I can exchange them for freebies. purchases with warranties - so I can still exchange products if I see something wrong with them. grocery receipts (sometimes)- to compare prices And the rest goes to the bin.

I try to save the receipts of the items purchased, because you never know if the products after coming to your home, might develop a snag or defect. In that case cash receipts of the purchases become very important and the moment you land in the Shopkeepers shop or the store from where you purchased the same, the salesman immediately ask for the receipt and if you are unable to produce the receipt, normally he does not entertain you. However, if you have the receipt, he becomes obliged to rectify your defects.

wow three decades. she must have alot of room to store all of those receipts. I do keep receipts from my Christmas shopping just in case someone has to return something. Especially from Toysrus. Their return policy sucks. Other then that I use to throw away receipts as soon as I would get home and if it was clothes make sure it fit. Now I keep them. Mostly to price check an item. I started couponing in Feburary and I couldn't remember how much one thing was so I started saving my receipts. I will go through them soon and start getting rid of the ones from Feburary and March but just keeping up with my coupon book has been hard. Seems like I will never finish cutting and filing coupons. I love my coupons though they have saved me alot of money.

I save them for a couple months, especially at the holidays. In case something doesn't work, or someone already has one, etc etc. I don't like not having it in case something goes wrong. Especially on electronic items. Yikes. I have an ex who has every receipt (even groceries) he has ever gotten!! When I married him I went through the office stuff and tossed decades worth of receipts out... he went balistic!!

I do think as some have said it is important to keep receipts until a warranty is over, and if you put soemthing on a credit card keep it at least until you have your bill and make sure it is right. Other than that, I throw away receipts for food right away, especially if I already ate it! But there is no real harm in keeping old receipts I guess, as long as you have a good place to put them, and they aren't thrown all over the house. It can be fun to go back and look and see how little things cost years ago.

Not so long and that is not so useful either, because we never know when the shop owners will shut down their shops. But yes, certainly for atleast a month or so and then dispose them. Saving of receipts is always advantageous because if at all we take any item which is rusted or damaged by any chance, without a receipt we cant claim the money we spent on that item. hence, and Hat's off to your grandmother.

If it's an item bought for myself, most receipts I throw out almost immediately. The exceptions are receipts for electronics where there is a warrantee. Those I attach to the warrantee paperwork and file it away....hoping of course that I can find it if I ever need it. If it's a receipt for a gift, I keep it for a month or two...then toss it.

Filing up the receipts and keeping it will be a record for ever and you can compare prices from year to year.As for as me,I keep all my bills until the warranty date. After that,I discard them.Cheers!

I save receipts for gift items for others and for internet purchases and for items that have a warranty period. Generally I keep them for the period of time that there might be or warranty or if I end up giving a duplicate gift and the return is delegated to me!

I only keep receipts for expensive electronics, or things that I will claim on my taxes. Besides that, it goes in the trash. Usually stores will take things back for store credit, even if you don't have the receipt. That's what I do at Home Depot if I need to return something there.

I don't throw them immediately.I'm like your grandmother I've been keeping some of my important receipts in the last 32 years of my life.I don't know why but it makes me happy to see old receipts. The first sala set receipt was my first receipt since I got married and still keeping the set for 32 years I can't forget the date.So far I have a drum full of only receipt.

No, I keep it in my receipts box for almost an year. If it for electronic gadgets then I keep it until the warranty period is over. I even have my computer's receipt with me because I would need that if I will go to another city via train, as Govt people check receipts while traveling with my computer.

It depends on the item and the value of it. I usually will keep receipts of valuables for quite a long time - anywhere between 2 weeks to a year (also depends on things like warranties etc). It makes me feel more secure if I hold onto the receipt for a certain period of time

I keep all my reciepts for about a year. I am by no means organized with this, they are in a drawer and in bags..LOL But there have been so many times that I have had needed the reciepts because something broke before the warrenty ran out on things. I also keep all the christmas receipts in a bag and label it that way if something doesnt fit or they get duplicates I have the receipt and they are able to return it.
