First of all Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this post.
Today is Christmas eve, and I am truly depressed. I lost my job five months ago, and have not been able to find another one. I am looking every day, sending out resumes etc. With the way things are, it is not an east task finding a job.
I know that I am behind in some bills, and I have ever intention of paying them once I get some money. At the present I do not have any money, my rent is due next week.
Again, today is Christmas eve, and I have received at least 20 calls from collectors. It is the same two, they call every five minutes.
Where is the compassion, it is Christmas eve, can they give people a reprieve for just one day. I know it is their jobs, but just one day.
I can truly see how and why people comment drastic acts around the holidays.
What do you think, should they at least leave people alone for one day?

Sorry to hear you are getting hounded by collectors even on Christmas Eve. Looking for a job to pay the bills is hard any time of year, but around the holidays it is usually worse. Have you talked to them and explain the situation to them and they are still hounding you or are you avoiding them altogether?

I have spoken to them, and explained my situation. I have asked to look at my payment history and notice that I have never been late or delinquent. They agree, and am sorry about what I am going through, but I was told by one person, even still they would continue to call me.

They'll probably leave you alone tomorrow.
I get tons of collector calls each day too, but they're all from insignificat bills, not the important ones like rent and power, those are usually paid on time.
But I just let the answering machine pick up all my calls. Usually it's a recording anyways, and I'll just hit stop on the answering machine to hang up on them.
Good luck finding a job. Are you considering less paying jobs as well? Flipping burgers at McDonald's is better than nothing you know. Just a suggestion. Best of luck and Happy Holidays.

I just received my last unemployment check. As it is, my unemployment for two week does not even cover my rent, so it wouldn' make much sense to take on a job that is paying less than what I was receiving from unemployment. I would take a burger flipping job in a heartbeat if it was giving me more than the unemployment.

They will leave you alone on Christmas. The bill collectors have no souls, sad to say, because if they did, they would not be doing it, but they do it because they want their pay.

Extremely sorry to hear that you are being bothered on Christmas Eve. I guess they are just trying to get some money from some people as unemployment is on the rise each day and more and more people are unable to pay up their bills. You are not alone in this game. This Christmas has not been great in India too especially in Mumbai as people has just offered prayers to God and there is a lack of happiness in everyone's face because of the Mumbai blasts.Think it is better to have no money and have your family members safe, than losing a dear one; that too in a terrorist act.

Sudalunts! I do not know if you believe in God, and Jesus. May be for you Christmas like to most Christmas is a season for rejoicing more the gifts and goodies than the coming of the Lord to the world. But still I understand the pain underlying your loss of job and the consequential depression, in you r spirits. I join you in your unhappiness about the lack of compassion in the collectors' heartless pestering for the bills due even on Christmas Eve and Chistmas. Any way Merry Christmas to You!
All I can do only pray for your early finding of a well-paying job and a TRUE MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas to you too sudalunts. Its really very bad and a deplorable act on the part of the people who have been making calls to you.Ya i too agree its their duty but there's something called human values too. There's not a greater disgusting feeling than to be harrassed by such people.I feel sorry for you,but anyways this is life.We should take it as it comes.

Most of the time its just a call center with a rotation of clients and the rep is just doing there job if at the time just dont just not answer speak to the rep and get a plan set that can fit your set up if its a week a month just tell them they can put a note in the system and respond then.
