My husband is 100% Irish and would LOVE to visit someday, we never had an official honeymoon, so when he gets back from Iraq i wanna surprise him with one. Do you think Ireland would be a good spot or somewhere hot with an ocean be better???

Ireland is beautiful and is green with old cottages as well as modern towns with attractive architecture. If you honeymoon there I suggest June, July or August in order to have a hope that the weather will be sunny. Ireland featured once on a program that finds people a home in the sun. It rains a lot in Ireland. Personally I would prefer a tropical Island if I had a honeymoon. Good luck.

It depends on what you and your husband are looking for in a holiday destination, I suppose. In my admittedly biased opinion, the British Isles have got some of the most gorgeous countryside anywhere, and Ireland is right on the Gulf Stream so it has a nice temperate climate - I'm not sure, but I think surfing's popular on the west coast. I've not been there myself yet, but I plan on visiting both Ulster and the Republic, probably the year after next, and they've both got a friendly reputation - slightly different cultures, obviously. If you like history, walking and sightseeing, either country would probably make a good holiday destination.
