This is my favorite book from Sophie Kinsella, a very witty author. It tells about an employee facing a near death experience while travelling via airplane. She sat beside a total stranger and rant her heart out.She told this stranger who sat beside her on the airplane. All her juiciest secrets, those little details in her life that she alone knew, she blurted it out to this stanger. Only to find out that this stranger is one of the new company owner of the company where she works! If you're in the same situation, will you do the same? Will you rant your secrets to a total stranger? I might do the same, y'know...

Well, that should teach her not to go around having a verbal diaherroa without finding out who that person is first. That is a very dangerous things to do. Especially if you do not know if the person listening to you is going to harm you or not with the information that he got from you. There are many movies that also show this kinda behavior always leads to some sort of trouble for the person involved. One good movies that comes to mind is Angela Bennett from The NET.

Im not sure I have seen that movie before. But I saw The Net starring Sandra Bullock a few years back. The scenario was totally the opposite of the scenario from this book. Where in this book, Emma Corrigan was the "all out" type of girl, the character played by Sandra Bullock was the total opposite. She does not want to have interaction with others and that was where she became vulnerable. i guess all of us need balance.

Well, Angela Bennett from THE NET also did a verbal diaherroa on the net. She tells people what she likes. Dislike and other what nots about her. Verbal diaherroa does not necessary have to happen in person. Chatting online will also see such things happening.

It depends on the circumstances, but I am a very secretive person. I don't want to talk about my private life to someone I just met. Even people I have been with for a long time don't know all about my secrets. It is hard to reveal something about you because this will make you vulnerable and open to gossips and betrayal. Merry Christmas.

Hi there! thank you for sharing your idea. indeed, a lot of grief can be avoided only if we are self-protected. it entails a few pieces of secrets which only you alone can treasure.

Everybody has secrets and they keep it but the secret that they discloses are usually the secrets they have to keep it for their friend. In my case it takes time to get along with people so there is 99% sure that i won't share a secret to a stranger. But there are people who will pour out everything where ever they go and sometimes they mess up other secrets also. A stranger is a stranger so we should have some limit and time will take its turn to know his secrets or share your secrets if you are destined to.

I'm the sort of person who can keep a secret. I don't like to say something I shouldn't say, especially my own secrets because everyone has his own privacy. If someone told me to keep a secret for him, I'll never tell anyone. I think it's something related to a person's morality.

Yup, it is a risk I know and proper caution should be applied. I am quite surprised with myself as well, on dealing with such situation. Guess I still never cease to surprise myself as well.

well,in my opinion, most of people would like keeping their own secrets at least in front of strangers and some of them may share some with their intimate friends or family. as for me, i am kinda traditional and secretive one who in most cases will not tell anyone else my own privacy but if in a certain special situation just like what you described in the book, it is out of my imagination and i have no idea about whether i will blurt it out or not. merry chrismas and happy mylotting.

every one needs a friend or at least someone who is readily available when needed, just like in the book. Probably it is a case to case basis. You'll find out when you cross the bridge. Thanks for the response!

I would not do that dear. One should not give away or rent their hear in such a short span of time. Now you know the impact of what mistake that lady did.
