Isaac Robert Toussie had been convicted of mail fraud and making false statements to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. But after A story in the New York Daily News said Toussie's father had donated $28,500 to= Republican Party in April, he withdrew the pardon.

Do you think Bush should have withdrawn the pardon?

He probably should have done his homework before granting the pardon to begin with. I wonder how many pardons have been given to people who had themselves donated to the party in power or whose family members had done so at one time or another. That in itself probably shouldn't be a deciding factor, in all fairness, but now the door must be completely closed on Scooter Libby.

The same could be said for the Mark Rich pardon. Despite that complete failure by both Bill Clinton and Eric Holder people moved on pretty quickly and the media mostly left it alone. It didn't stop Eric Holder from getting a nice position in the Obama administration either. I wish Clinton would have done what Bush did when he learned the truth.

Yes he should have withdrawn the pardon. If he did not, then people will say that Toussie's father had bribe him. It would not have looked good, and it seems that Toussie figured that he could buy his way out of a bad situation. This is another good thing that Bush has done, that will be forgotten by the Bush haters.

It was an unprecedented move and I'm glad the president did it. I'm sketchy on most pardons to begin with. When there is the appearance of impropriety I think it's a good idea for the president to reconsider. The last thing we need is another questionable pardon like we had during the end of Clinton's presidency.

I read a story yesterday that Toussie's family donated a total of $35,000 last year alone on GOP candidates, and the party. I think this is a great example of freedom of the press, if it wasn't for investigative reporting Bush would have got away with this. It is good to see some good reporting going on somewhere in this country.
