Mostly I read non-fiction. That includes technical books like Computer Programming related, Control Systems, Math, Physics, Philosophy(Mostly Indian and preferably in Sanskrit), Sanskrit Study-related, anything that is tough to understand evinces my interest. I do not like something that is too simple and straight forward, in that it presents no challenges to my reading or interpretation or understanding skills.
I remember reading a book by Benjamin Disraeli in my childhood[in my 9th or 8th grade. I was so excited about the English used by him. I am trying hard to find an E-book to see if really BD's writings are that hard to comprehend, but I could not lay hands on a single book. I like any language when it is used at its best.
Though Jean Paul Sartre was not an Englishman and perhaps he hadn't written in English, yet I like the way he had handled language, seeing him in translation!
One example of such a book is WORDS[Author: Jean Paul Sartre].
If the language used is simple and straight forward then the subject dealt with must be profound like the Bhagavad-Gita for instance.

Although I will pretty much read anything that is interesting, my tastes lend more towards fiction. Right now, my current addiction is paranormal romance genre. If you are not familiar with them, they are romance novels with fantastic elements, like vampires, demons, werewolves, fairies, etc.
I like this genre because it combines two things that I like very much: the guaranteed happy ending and the fantasy elements. There are many good writers out there who write this genre. My faves would include JR Ward, Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole and Karen Marie Moning, to name a few.
I usually read during my lunch hour and before I go to bed. During my days off, I would read more.
I rarely read magazines and non-fiction.

I have read a bit of Sidney Sheldon but have read more Lawrence Sanders, Ed McBain, Sue Grafton and Agatha Christie as far as mysteries go. Outside of mysteries I like Joy Fielding, Belva Plain, Maeve Binchy and other women's fiction or general fiction authors. I don't read much non-fiction except for biographical or inspirational/self-help. I read Writer's Journal Magazine and sometimes books on writing.

i dont get much time to read books, only few hours in a day, that too i spend on net, either mylotting or working at other sites, so there's not much time left for reading. From the very beginning i am not very much fond of reading, i just read whatever i get from some friend or relative, or some magazines etc that are available.

I love to read personal development and finance books. Recently I have been reading a lot on how to cut down spending and make money grow. But the latest book I borrowed from the library was not to my liking even though the title was very catchy indeed. Other than that, I do read JK Rowling as well, but not as thorough as some people did.
