Christmas In Your Country

Christmas - What is christmas like in your country? One day or two days? What are the usual habits...and maybe which frustrations are there for you celebrating the holidays? Don't worry, I won't tell anybody!

Here in Holland we celebrate two days of Christmas. The 25th and the 26th. On the 24th most businesses close earlier than usual. Considering it's tacked onto a weekend this year it's like a long weekend, which is good! Most times the first day is reserved for visiting and or dining with family. The second day is more often used to go out to visit furniture stores or other big stores that have been allowed to be open on a holiday. What I never seem to be able to get my mind around is that the supermarkets are always jam packed about a week before with people who apprantly think that they need to stock up on humungous amounts of foodstuffs to be able to survive for two days. And I'm talking about carts filled to the brim, not just some daily basics. But hey that's just me. So tell me about Christmas traditions - and maybe things you've noticed - about Christmas in your part of the world.
