choose the field that you have passion for it, that you enjoy; that's the most important criteria on choosing a career. choose a career that will give you a job that regardless of salary and environment, you'll see yourself enjoying your work and having a sense of worth and accomplishment. :)

I think it is good of you to seek this kind of advice at this time seeing hereafter you wiil be studying for a career you'll be stuck with for some time. A part of my present job require that I do career counseling on a small scale and beleive me there are so many grownups out there who regret their career choices but now its too expensive and time consuming for them to change so they have to stick it out. You have identified a few of your strengths which is always important when making career choices. I would further advise you to identify at least three careers (based on your strengths) that you think you would enjoy pursuing. Hopefully you will choose careers which will allow you to easily move from one to the other should jobs in one area be threatened for one reason or another. Realistically you cant study for all three careers at once so prioritise and pursue the one you like best first then do courses for the others while working. Many persons out of a job today due to the recession will find it hard to find other jobs as they have no other skill or career qualifications. Too often we specialize in subjects during high school then choose a career path based on the subjects we are sucessful in rather than choosing ideal careers and then focus on the subjects needed to pursue those careers. Check also for the earning potential of each career you choose and make sure you inform yourself about these careers. It makes no sense to infatuate onesef with a career only to come to a rude awakening when you've actually studied and started to work. Find out the nature of these careers and the attributes needed to survive in them. Good luck and for thinking seriously about your career choice.

Please read this my advice carefully because it's not really an advice. These are my thoughts. I just turned out 18 and I was alot confused than you about my studies. Atleast you have kept mind for somethings but I am really a confused person. Now, back on topic: The main thing that concerns is whatever you decide to do, it shall be something which you would love to do. Money is not everything, yeah, I know it's what everyone want but really, when you really decide what you want to do then it must be what you really want to do. Just keep all other things at side for once and think which work will make you most happy. I don't know if there's anything else I can suggest. And yeah, one thing, whatever work you'll choose for your life, remember it's a continuous process. The continuous process brings the boredom in. Believe me, boredom kicks in when there is a continuous process. There will be several times when you'll get fed up from your work and would like to quit everything. I'm telling this because that happened to me. At that time my dad said me to leave the work as it was for a while and do everything else that I liked and ... it worked. If such situation comes leave the work if you cannot finish it today, you can do it some other time when boredom kicks in. It's a continuous process. This was a long one, I know. But I just wanted to share my experience and I think that's what mylot's all about. Hence atlast, it is really upto you. Remember, you control the challenges and your decisions. Don't worry about time, because right now, you own it!

Hi legend4u, I often have the same thoughts as you since I will be choosing my own career path in another 2 months time. However, my choice would be a far more critcal than yours. I'm entering uni, and after which I would be in the society. What really keep me pondering is still the choice of interest/likes or salary/welfare. Often, people would ask me to choose something that I'm interested in, so that I wouldnt be bored and could enjoy what I'm doing even if the pay seems pathetic. As I grow older, I came to understand that I more towards getting a higher salary rather than anything else. Though I may end up working in areas that I prefer if I choice according to my interest, however, getting pathetic pay would keep me depressed. Starting a business is good, but you must have a clear idea of what you wanna do or implement. Otherwise, a failure would have robbed you of all your hard earned savings. Try hard and you shall succeed. Regards

At this time Medical field is the best but unfortunately you have taken biology so the next option would be engineering but that is really going bad now so i suppose you could take a batchelor's course and score good marks and then you could do a MBA as you have itself suggested but nowadys only dual MBA is very much in demand even though you have to study a lot for that or you could do two MBA's and then join your job which you will get easily..Happy mylotting..

My advice to you is go online and look at the career courses that are offer at the universities. Online there are various careers with information alongside them. As for the salary always has this in the back of your brain. No one can pay you for your time. What you need to do is gain experience the more experience you have in a particular field is the more money for you. So for example you just left university with you MBA and a firm is offering you $30,000. Even though this is not want you want take it because you are graduating without experience. At this workplace you will gain the experience need. So my friend don't make money be the first thing in line. Experience is the first and foremost. As the person in Thread 1 says you should choose something that you know you will be happy with and not something that you think will generate a big income for you because this can lead to unhappiness. Wrong Career choices always lead to misfortune down the road. Speak with a teacher who you respect and then make your choice. All best Kerri

For me, the best career is to be a musician. A successful and historical artist like Paul Weller, Joe Strummer, Liam and Noel Gallagher, and a lot more. Doing something that you really love and you're good at is also one best career that you can have. Nothing beats your desire and passion. From it you'll reach greater heights of success and contentment.

i think it depends upon the job and the person. if the person loves his job, well, definitely, he will say it is the best career because he is enjoying it. it depends upon the person really, whether he loves his job or not. but also, some other people earns a lot of money, can say that it is the best career also. not to mention if he is enjoying it or not, as long as he is earning BIG, its no problem for him...

Choose the one you are most interested in, or perhaps you are not sure about which industry you would like to get into, so better way for you is to try as most as jobs you can. Money is not the first reason for you to get the job, the practice and experience is the vital one. You are only 17 years old, there are long time for your to seek and obtain the most appropriate occation by your 30 years old. Think about this and wish you good luck!

I admire you with small age and good future. Everything could happen, for you are only 17 years old. I had no plan in your age. But you prepare to do business from now on. It's a good beginning. I wish you can be success.
