Hospital Delivery Horror

Lynne Neilson, waiting for two-and-a-half hours in a cold hospital waiting room, went into labor standing up, grasping the side of a stretcher. No midwife attended to her until her infant's head crowned. She was then forced to deliver said infant on the waiting room floor of the ER on a disposable paper sheet. After this rather traumatic birth, mother and baby had to wait a further hour in order to get a bed.

I'm not sure if she would have a case as the baby was born and alive. If the infant showed signs of trauma it may be a different scenario.
There have been cases where the distress from the infant has be severe enough for the need to get the baby out quickly and the c-section is done before the anesthesia sets in. Because it is done to save the life of the baby most courts side with the hospital. I've never heard of a mother winning such a case.

That is so, yet this woman was simply ignored I believe...

Sounds like a picnic compared to delivering my second baby.

Of course there are always worse stories, but as a story of neglect via hospital, this is bad. Did you have a neglect issue with a hospital?

An investigation is definitely in order. As a mother, anything should be done to advocate for the child.

Mine's too long to tell but yes there was neglect involved including a baby in transverse lie that they had me pushing to get out for I believe two hours until another doctor stepped in and took over. Not to mention trying to send me home at three minutes apart. There's a lot more, but I think that suffices for now. That baby was later diagnosed with several disabilities including Autism. I can't say her birth caused it, but I have my suspicions.

That is so horrible a story and I feel incredibly sorry for the lady. In labor she must have been having so much pain and couldn't get comfortable. She didn't see a midwife until the head was crowning. It wasn't clean for the baby to be born in a waiting room. The baby needed the umbilical cord to be cut and the lady needed to deliver the placenta. It is awful that the lad and her baby had to wait an hour to get into a bed. If I was her I would have gone home for the birth there. I have had two home births with two midwifes, one for me and one for my baby. If I was that lady I would sue the hospital. No other pregnant lady in that area would want to give birth at that terrible hospital.

I have to agree with you on that. She was lucky that the baby survived the ordeal as did she.

Thanks for the best response. My baby daughter was born in June 2009. I had a home birth and then had trouble delivering the placenta. It came out with four blood clots. I ended up losing two and a half liters of blood. I was lucky to survive that ordeal. My baby girl is now six months old.

This is happening worldwide. Will it is good that no harm was done to both individuals. So is it that there were no midwife around or is it that the hospital was very busy.

I do not know the details, but as this was a rich country, I smell a rat...
