Christmas Day

I put my kids to bed quite late on Christmas Eve in the hope that they would wake a bit later in the morning but it wasn't to be. My eldest was up at quarter to six in the morning as he was so excited. I had planned to do a cooked breakfast before opening the main gifts but it seemed too early so we opened all the presents and then I got on with breakfast. Around 2.30pm I had planned for us to sit down to pate for starters, followed by a turkey dinner and a Christmas pud to end with. I still felt a bit full from the breakfast so I skipped the starter and we had the turkey but then skipped the pudding because we were too full. Come 6pm I had planned to do like a cold buffet of sandwiches, sausage rolls and such like but we just nibbled on crisps/chips and chocolate. I thought that I would get the kids into bed at a reasonable time but that all fell through when we were still up too late playing on our new PS2 all together. It was a great, fun-filled, carefree, stress-free day even though it didn't all go according to plan!! Did your day go according to how you had planned it? I hope it wasn't a disaster, was it though? Did nothing go to plan but, like me, turned out for the best?

Hi Humbug, Well if I hadn't have had to get up to let the dog out I would have had a great lay in as my son didn't come down the stairs until about 8am. The girls and I were up ready waiting for him LOL. I done bacon sarnies for breakfast and we them got stuck into pressie opening. Had a great fun day and other than delaying dinner for an hour as so full up from starter all went to plan. Tea was dessert though as we were all too stuffed earlier for that. We took the dog out after dinner and my son rode his new bike. One of my daughters bought me a Wii fit to go with my Wii so like you with your PS2 we all had great family fun with it and I was pleasantly suprised to find that my body is years younger than my age, yippee. Glad you had a wonderful day. Huggles. Ellie :D

Sounds like you had lots of fun too! I remember many many years ago when atari was the 'in' computer equipment and boy did my family have fun with that, space invaders, asteroids, Pac Man, me and my father used to stay up till 1 or 2 in the morning playing dual games, it was so addictive. I enjoyed reading about your day, glad you had fun my friend. Wolfie hugs xxx

Hi ellie333, Hi Wolfie34 I used to hate Space Invaders as I was never any good at it and used to shoot my own barriers because I couldn't hit the aliens!! I used to get frustrated with pacman too! There was one game I used to love but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called!! Cheers guys

Seems you had fun right from the start my friend! Did you have any visitors over or was it just the four of you? It's wonderful with children isn't it, makes Christmas more fun and it also makes you feel young again, especially when you start playing games with them. But the time goes by so quickly and I bet you had a good night sleep last night, wearing yourself out! The day went well for me, in that I was able to have my Christmas dinner watching Emmerdale, dad hates it and to be honest I don't like eating my meal with dad because of the smoke and his constant coughing and watching the rubbish he watches on tv, so I was glad when he didn't mind me taking my dinner up to my room, I enjoyed it more! And I had a wonderful finish to Christmas as I laid on my bed and put Star Wars Episode 1 on, I love that film, never get tired of it, had a nice drinky and some nice nibbles and I was as happy as a wolfie in shite LOL! Merry Christmas my dear friend and I enjoyed reading about your day.

Hi wolfie34 Yeah it was just the four of us even though my uncle and cousin were supposed to be coming but that's another story. I felt a bit lonely to be honest just wanting my mum with me really because in the past we have spent some good times together at Christmas. Apart from that it was great! Kids were up around 8.30 this morning so yes I did have a chance to recharge my batteries and ready for another game of Monster Rumble (I think it is called!) Cheers wolfie and I am glad your day panned out just how you wanted it too

My son also slept late on Christmas Eve. It is our family tradition to be invited for a drink at my in laws and we exchange gifts on Christmas Eve. My son was really excited opening the gifts and therefore I did not give much thought about an early rising. We put the rest of the Christmas presents that we receive from other friends and relatives to be opened on Christmas Day. He woke up at 5.00 to continue opening the rest of the gifts. There is no need to say that I still had my eyes glued.

My kids did not go to bed until around 11 pm on Christmas Eve. I woke up with my daughter at 8 am, and she went in and woke up my son about 20 minutes later. We were not at home, so they did not have a lot of presents to open on Christmas morning, but my mother brought them to my brothers house where we were having dinner and they opened them then.

My fiance and I invited a friend of ours who didn't go with his family to celebrate Christmas. So on the 23rd we went out and got him another present (as we had given him his present early thinking we wouldn't see him). He arrived at our house just as we had got done eating and was about to wrap his present. I wrapped (or started to) his present while my fiance diverted him... My fiance actually came in when I had just got the wrapping paper out (it's a big roll) from behind the door. Long story short, we stayed up until Christmas Eve, our friend went to visit our other friends, we took a nap, woke up, called him, he came back, we ate, opened presents, and then our friend went to bed. On Christmas Day we were awoken by his mother, we went to his granny's to eat, then to my mom's to visit, then to my granny's to visit.. All in all it was a good day. I will say that we weren't verbally planning to go to my granny's.. Wow, that was busy, but like you we had fun.
