Wrong Gift

Do you have a friend or family member whose impossible to buy a gift for? Both of my grandmothers were that way. They didn't like anything they receiver, but they were gracious when you'd give them their gift. It was afterward when talking with someone else they'd say, "why did he give me that or what am I going to do with this?" What about you, do you have someone who is impossible to buy for but expects something at gift giving times? What do you do about it?
