Saina Nehwal had recently reached the semi-finals of World Series and in doing so became the first Indian to do so.After her great achievement when she returned home, there was no one to receive her at the airport except her father. After all this raw deal being meted out to our champions,is it fair on our part to expect them to be world beaters?Dont you think that as Indians we should be ashamed of ourselves?

saina nehwal's hope of making a dream start to her campaign received her joltas she lost her first match of the world super series masters final, against danish , tine rassmussen in straight games at kota kinabalu in malaysia on thursday. world number 10, saina nehwal went down 18-21 , 14-21 to world number two tine rasmussen in a match that lasted for just 27 minutes. the hyderabadi will take on fourth seed french pi hong yan in her next match before locking horns with sixth seed wong mew choo of malaysia. saina nehwal was lagging in behind right from the start in the first game but she fought her way back to grab a two point lead at 7-5. tine rasmussen however drew level soon and they were neck to neck till 13-13 before the danish ace showed her class and pocketed five straight points to take 18-13 lead. saina nehwal tried her best but the game slipped through her fingers. the second set was even worse as saina nehwal couldn't match tine rasmussen's smashes and kept on conceding points and in a flash the reigning all england champion extended her lead from 11-8 to 13-9 and then to 19-10 before sealing the match 21-14. saina nehwal said that she is very disappointed with her own performence today and she also said that both of her next opponent are good rally players and she have to play really well and beat them to enter the next round...

well it is always like this in india first she had to fight for her passport to be able to play in the tournament where she played great badminton to reach the semis and is currently world number 10 but apart from a few sections of the media who covered her story the other sporting bodies didn't seem to care about it. same is the case with the manipuri boxer who is the world champion in women boxing for some years now but hasn't been given a arjun award yet and when quizzed about this the chairman of the committee said who she is...no wonder we dont win many medals at the olympics.
