For those who haven't seen my previous post about Murphy and her having to be rushed to the vet on Christmas Eve day; the night before I took her to the vet she was having problems going to the bathroom in the litter box. She was restless and would spend up to 30 minutes in the box trying to go. I rushed her to the vet the next day and after $150 I found out she had a UTI.
Fast forward to today, two days later. Murphy is back to her old self. She is a cantankerous vocal, grouchy cat...she's herself! She is eating like a horse and is having no problems in the litter box. In short she's back to normal. I would have been crushed if something had happened to her as my Mom gave her to me for my birthday 14 years ago. I am hoping that she will live to be 20 years old or better. But right now I am so thankful that she is doing as super as she is. Thank you to everyone who expressed their concern and prayed for my little furry girl.

Glad the kitty is doing better.
I have to get one of my cats to the vet. He's got some horrible skin issue, I think it's nasty fleas, but the flea medicine isn't doing anything for him. I've given him Advantage, which we've used for years and haven't had a problem, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick for him this time.
I have to see if maybe it's something other than fleas causing this, or if there's a different medicine I should try.

Ahh, the good ole flea/skin disease issue. One of my Siamese, Merlin, had horrible problems with fleas. I used to give him baths (not flea dips) several times during the summer. He was an odd cat, he loved taking baths in the tub! In between I would feed him plenty of garlic powder and brewer's yeast powder. It really helped keep the fleas off him, the only draw back was he smelled like an Italian Restaurant!
Also Eucalyptus oil or leaves in his favorite place to sleep helps control them too. You can put the oil on the neck like the Advantage but it doesn't have the chemicals like the Front line or Advantage.
Murphy was a birthday gift to me in 1994, and she was about 5 or 6 months old when I adopted her from the Humane Society. So, she is a genuine little old lady. It's kind of like a hair color commercial from waaaaaayyyyy back, "Only her hair dresser knows for sure". It was a commercial for hair coloring, I think it was Clairol. But it stuck on my mind and it sure holds true for Murphy. (I just looked up, she's checking out the cupboards in the kitchen for mice...she is definitely feeling much better.) When I finish doing the posting she will get hugs and kisses from her Auntie! Thank you so much for your concern and wonderful post!

Hope you don't mind my butting in here...LOL. There are more "natural" ways of dealing with flea issues than any of the commercial flea treatments....I did an article about these, and commercial brands of most flea treatments can make things worse...such as skin issues since a pet can be allergic to the flea medications and are even considered toxic...here's one place that sells only natural "remedies" for just about anything for pets

Oh--as far as garlic...go easy on that...too much garlic in any form, from powder to pills, given to cats can cause liver damage

As I said in the previous post, the line comes from an old Clairol commercial "Only her hair dresser knows for sure". I can't believe that she is so close to being 15! Mom gave me in 1994 and Murphy was about 5 months old then. Murph has been through a lot of changes and a lot of tears but has been my best friend for a long time.
She will get lots of hugs and love and snuggles and when I finish this post a bunch of them will be from her Auntie Katlady. She sends purrs and kitty kisses back. Thank you so much for your concern and the love you've sent. When I was going half crazy with worry about that little furry grouch the love from my myLot friends sure helped me through the tough time. I was so worried that I would have to put her down just before Christmas and the relief was tremendous when it was just the UTI!! The vet is getting a thank you note as soon as I go to town and can get some stamps.

aww---I'm so glad to hear Murphy is her old "cranky" self again..LOL. Knowing from my own past experiences with my "babies" over the years I know I tend to fuss over my kitties more when they get sick than myself. Is she still taking antibiotics? How good is she about taking medicine. I know my Pyewacket isn't a good patient...I feel like I have to wear armor whenever I need to give him something...even if it's only to clean out his ears

What good news! I am so happy that Murphy is ok! She might just live to be 20! My cat stuffy lived to be 18 and he had urinary problems all his life. So take care and murphy just might surprise you! I miss my stuffy tons.
