How well do your kids pick out there own outfits?

My daughter is 5. And she has started to pick out her own clothing. Luckily so far it hasn't been on a day she needed to leave the house. Bless her heart, she does try. Yesterday she pit on one of her Christmas gifts( a horizontal striped pink sweater) with a pair of camaflouge pants that had roses on them. I wish I had taken a picture. However the over all effect was nightmarish. With time I am sure she will improve.

Ah, at least she's a girl and will learn to pay attention to things like color coordination and fashion. You now have a boy and, if tradition and stereotypes hold, only gay men and womanizers learn how to dress fashionably. :)

We will put a bunch of outfits together but we will let her choose the one she wants to wear to school. But she has had a few moments when she has dressed herself and she mixed polka dots with plaid lucky it was play clothes after school.

My son picks out what he is going to wear most of the time anymore. He normally does a really good job. I think it is a little bit easier on boys than girls though. Fewer patterns to match up.

My older 3 dress themselves, and the boys do okay most of the time. But my daughter... she has her favorite shirts, and won't wear any others. She likes to wear these same shirts over and over, and she'll go for matching colors. If she wears a green sweater, she'll wear them with green pants. Pink shirts with pink pants. It's not awful, but it's just too much of the same color. Usually it doesn't matter to me because we don't go out anywhere. If we are going somewhere and I need her to look decent I'll help her with her choices.

I don’t have kids yet but I do have a niece that would pick her own outfit of the day after her bath. She won’t wear anything you give that’s cute for you if she doesn’t want it. She would sometimes cry if you forbid her so her mother would let her pick it in her cabinet ever since she knows how to dressed herself.
