Do you rate it?

When I start a discussion all the responses I get I rate. Do you? When someone else starts a discussion and I respond to it I don't rate anyone elses responses or the discussion. Do you? I feel that is the job of the person that started the discussion. Does it help me out in any way if I were to rate other peoples discussions?

I don't think there is any financial gain to rating - all it does is raise the star ranking and that has nothing to do with earnings here. I give responses a [+] rating if I think the response is good enough to deserve it. And I only give a negative response if the post is rude, spammy or obnoxious. If it blatently goes against the terms of Mylot then I call the moderators attention to it by giving it a [!] warning, but that is a very rare event for me.

That is also how I rate too. I don't think I have ever gave a ! rating yet, but there is some I have came across that did need it. I just hate to be negative. :) Thanks for sharing!

It is good to rate others discussions. I used to do it but since persons has been pressing the minus button on my name I stop.

That wasn't very nice of people. I think I have only rated someone negative once and that was because they were being flat out rude and mean! I think that is just not called for. I hope you have better luck. Thanks for sharing! You definitely get a positive from me :)

I always rate everyone that responds to my discussion. It is usually a + unless the person is downright rude or doesn't relate to the discussion topic. I also rate other discussions and sometimes the replies in those discussions. Again, it is ususally a +. I don't believe in - unless the person is really rude or gives a one or two word reply. Even if they don't agree with the discussion starter, I still give them a +; we can't all have the same opinions. Happy posting.

you are right, we can't all have the same opinion. If that was the case there would be no mylot :) Thanks for sharing!

I rate all discussions and responses, whether they are from my discussions or not. If I take the time to read them, I feel that it's only fair that I also take that extra second or two to rate them. Most I rate positively, occasionally there are responses that are rude and out of line, and I rate those accordingly.

I think I am going to start. I guess I really never thought of it before. I just assumed it was the job of the person that started the discussion, but I am now thinking otherwise. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, messageme. I rate every one who responses to my started discussions. Besides, most of time i rate those discussions that i reply to, but i do not rate those responses to the discussions of others. But i find the response is really informative and useful for me, then i will rate it positive too. I think it's good to have the habit of rating others' discussions, for me, it's kind of motivation. Have a nice day and happy mylotting!
