I think we need to get on the ball. We have a blanket and I think a flashlight in the trunk. Not truly prepared. But we do keep our cells charged.

My wife tries to get me to keep a blanket in the car when it gets cold, but I don't always have what would qualify as an emergency kit. I guess that's because I have a cell phone and seldom drive far from safety (mostly in the city.)

I don't have a car but I keep telling my mom and dad that they need to keep a bag of stuff in their car for emergencies but they never listen to me. I tell them to put in a blanket, extra clothes, food and flashlights and a gallon of gas. For just in case they run out of gas or have car problems they won't have to get cold or my little sister. a picnic basket filled with foods that won't go bad and can easily be opened and have a few foam plates and plastic ware. Never hurts to be ready for something but it needs to be easy to put in and out of the car since food might freeze and not be good afterwards.Better safe then sorry.

I do not have an emergency kit in my car. I usually keep extra blankets, snacks and drinks in my van as kids are always in need of something and it's easier to just have the stuff on hand. However, with it being winter here keeping liquids in a vehicle isn't always a good idea.... I've had a soda or two explode in my vehicle from the cold. Plus we live in a well populated area. If I was to live in a more rural area where one has to travel a distance to even get the necessities than perhaps I would consider it moresoe.
Otherwise when in doubt always keep your cell phone charged and handy ;)
