I was just thinking about what if we had something like IPL for test cricket. Suppose you were the owner of a cricket team in IPL and you have money enough to buy either Steve waugh or Sachin Tendulkar. Remember it is for test cricket. who would you buy? I would go for Steve waugh because he is a match winner when chips are down, he would come at 140 for 5 and take australia to 400+ score time and again playing with tail enders while Tendular never won india match in 4th inning barring this time against england in just concluded test series. So keeping in mind that suppose both are in their prime and you can buy only one player.. who would u buy out of these two?

If you are saying both players are in their prime then I will say I will pick Sachin Tendulkar... I don't know why people always oppose him. What he has done for India, nobody has ever done for the World Cricket. He has scored the runs nobody can dream of. Many people say that he has scored against weaker teams, i just wanna ask them, Is sachin the only player in the line up that play against the weaker teams? why other players do not score much? why they haven't broke the records? Recently, Tendulkar has got several injuries, he has undergone few surgeries. But in 1996, the way he played, he scored runs, no body did. People usecd to call him Modern Bradmann. Even Bradmann, himself, said if anyone is near to Sir Donald Bradmann it is Sachin Tendulkar. wy didnt he said for his fellow countryman Steve Waugh. Sachin Tendulkar was flawless at that time. He scored runs against all the teams all around the world. Do't you remember how he smashed centuries against Australia in Sharjah and was single handedly doing everything?? He was the back bone of the Indian line up. He won countless matches for India single handedly. How can people forget his services? I believe SACHIN TENDULKAR deserves more respect then wht he is being offered. If I am an owner of any team, I would have pick Sachin Tendulkar in every format of the game ahead of any other player of the world during his prime years...

No one has ever doubted Sachin's ability nor his commitment to the team but my doubts are when chips are down.In his 120+ test match carrier can u count how many times he was there batting when Indian won the test match. or how many times has he played with the tailenders to save the match or win it. Not many instances come to mind. He is gr8 player in 1st,2nd and third innings but what about 4th innings. Only 2 instances come in mind one is recent one against England and other against pakistan that too we lost because he got out when India was in sight of victory.

Somebody said (I think Sunil gavaskar) "In Test Matches, batsmen can save the game and end in a draw while the bowlers are the ones who win matches for the team" Don't compare the greatness because of the stats in the 4th innings!!
