Computer just like the telephone set is already necessity equipment in our home, office or in the school. We are using computer almost everyday, even the whole family they are busy with the computer. The father is using it for his daily stock exchange transactions. The mother is using it for checking her friends' e-mails. And the children, they are using it for their own researches and studies. In your opinion, which one do you prefer to buy, a desktop computer or a laptop computer?

I used to have a desktop and I could hardly wait until I could buy a laptop. I finally treated myself to one and one of the reasons that I thought that I would like it is that I could take it anywhere. Okay, four years later and I've never taken it with me anywhere. I do like the fact that it's so compact but I'm not certain that I would buy one again. Now, all I can think about is a new desktop. I guess that I always want what I don't have!

i prefer desktop too, though there are already 2 laptops at home, i feel that it is good to have a desktop. it is easier to get upgraded, parts are cheaper.

That is true. With desktop computer easy work with, upgradeable and with cheaper spare parts. You can change the monitor, keyboard and other parts anytime when there is a problem.

With desktop, you can increase the size of monitor, with laptop you cannot. But portability is laptop's advantage over desktop. I agree with you.

i would prefer a desktop PC for sure since i am a gamer and desktops are best for gaming. there are high spec laptops that support games, i don't prefer them because gaming kills the life of laptop battery. a big plus point for a desktop is that you can upgrade the system, which is not much possible for a laptop.

Hi there. Considering that my job requires mobility, I'd say the laptop is the way to go. Though we have a desktop at home, I prefer to use my (office-issued) laptop to surf the net and check e-mails, even on my days off. I find it more comfortable to use since I don't necessarily have to sit stiffly in front of a screen to use it. I'm actually saving up to get my own personal notebook/laptop, too.

Desktop or Laptop - Laptops go more places
I like desk and lap about the same. I have both but am on my laptop most because well I can basically sit any room to use it. When done just put it away. Lol how do you know it isn't the mom checking the daily stock exchange and the father isn't answering his friends e-mails? In todays word it isn't uncommon for the father to be the stay at home and the mom the bread winner.

You are lucky, for having both desktop and laptop, but you preferred to use your laptop. Ok, I forgot that we are already living in the unisex world, where mom doing the stock trading and dad is cheking the e-mails, stays home and cooks for the family.

Well, I have purchased already. Anyway, I bought a laptop since it is more appropriate for my use. I conduct trainings on different areas so it would be much more convenient to use a laptop during presentation most especially that I travel all the time. My wife also has a laptop. Though she has a desktop at the office, she bought here own laptop so she can still do work at home and bring the results in the office. It is really much handy to use laptop nowadays.

Laptops seem to have some problems running some applications, which is a problem for me. The ability to use a laptop anyhwere (if you have wifi) is nice if you have that need. I don't mind going to my office to get online and such.

I think a desktop is better if it's for the whole family but if it's for personal use I would say laptop. I had to get a laptop because I never got a turn.lol

It is according to your requirement. For a family, a desktop is much more helpful, easy to upgrade, easy to repair. To a student, laptop is the first choice, since it is easy to move around.

I am a pc gamer, so I need powerful cpu and graphics card, so I need a desktop. But I also got a net book just to browse websites while i am taking train and traveling. So I think both would be the best option that can satisfy everything needs.

Here in our house, we opt to buy laptop computers more because--first of all, our house is starting to lack space, hence don't buy the desktop, and second, we've used more or less three desktop computers ever since we started buying computers when I was six. I also found out that when there's a desktop computer at home, I don't use it. I'm more of a laptop person, I guess. Lastly, I'd opt to own a laptop because I enjoy carrying it everywhere. We all like to visit our relatives and they've got WiFi houses, so I tend to use that advantange. :D

It depends what your requirements are. The laptop offers portability while the desktop cannot. But it all boils down to your family requirements. If it is going to be used by several members I would opt for a desktop.

Hey I would rather buy a laptop. In a way I like laptops over desktops because they are a LOT smaller and easier to bring to school, college and far more convenient if you have a small desk like me! And if you want, you can sit in bed and still type away on your laptop freely without having to even get up out of bed. Also, it is much better if you have a laptop instead of a desktop because you can easily complete your homework and assignments. Soon in the future, they will maybe have really small laptops that will have really good features. Laptops are just...in my opinion better somehow since you can almost take them anywhere!

for me, I prefer desktop even though I have laptop. I know the flexibility of using laptop, but it has limitation. Maybe I am working as Interior Designer, I want to have a good and stable computer, good memory, good speed, and of course big screen so I can do and check my detail drawings. And I also can upgrade or change the component inside within my price range. Meanwhile most laptop useful when you do travelling, but I use my computer more to home based work and it will turn on until I turn off the computer. the CPU has so many fans inside for cooling and I can work on it 24hours 7 day if I have too. Meanwhile the laptop I'm using now is getting slower and the battery easily flat and need to be recharge. I think I'm a heavy user, so I need desktop moreeeee......
