Maybe, I think. Playing is the nature call of children, when we were kids, we just hoped playing everyday, no studying. We expect the holiday's coming since the new term just begin. You can try to make the kids feel interest of what they are going to learn, if they have the desire to know something, then it will be a good begin for them to learn.

I am a teacher and the key to making children enjoy studying is to make it like a game. This is possible with Maths. You could buy a broom stick and paint it two colors like yellow, gray, yellow, gray, yellow, gray and so on. Then your children could use it as a number line. You get some paper and make it into blocks of 10 then counting and multiplying would be easier. You could encourage reading by going to our local library and make a reading target, like read 5 books get a reward. You could begin stories and get your children to write a middle and and end. Then you could make a book of all the stories. Good luck.

well it is not easy and it does depend upon the age, as hey get older they are more mature to handle it but they don't like it. I have known a few kids though that did study as a child, I wasn't one of them and neither was mu son.

You have to be creative and develop a reward system in order to get kids to want to study and in order for them to get anything out of it, they have to want to do it. You also need to make study time short or, if it has to be long because there is a lot of material to go through, allow them to take half hour breaks after 45 minutes of work. Studies have shown that students can only concentrate on something for an hour tops so why waste time when you don't have to? Flash cards are great study tools because they can be used for studying and then used for testing since the answer is written on the back. Once the child knows the answer to a flash card, it can be put away, and the child can actually see the stack getting smaller which is encouraging. Taking turns reading with your child is a way to make studying less boring and, believe it or not, kids like to have their parents involved. Be as creative as you can be, too. Making graphs and charts when appropriate gives the material a new look. Keep in mind that there are several learning styles and taking advantage of each one helps your child to learn the material. The sytles are reading, hearing, writing, doing/practice. Good luck!
