Morgan Wolman is a drummer here in Montreal, he suffers from a rare kidney condition, he is only 21 years old and needed a transplant, He mom was the donor, but what makes this extra special is that his mom is his adoptive mom, so she is not related by blood yet she was a perfect match, Morgan's doctor says this is extremely rare, normally a donor has to wait 3 years to find a good match and Morgan found one immediately. I love stories like this, would you be a kidney donor to a stranger, would you be one for your own child and would you be one for your adoptive child? I know that I would definitely be one for my own child and even my adoptive child, if I had one and we were a perfect match. http://www.vancouversun.com/Drummer+inherits+kidney/1089806/story.html

I would if I could, even a stranger, but I don't think that I'm much of a winner, I couldn't even donate blood to my dad - too many thinkies in my blood for him.

I used to donate blood, but I've been too anemic lately to do so.

If my kids or my family needed a kidney and only way they would live was for me to give them one, I wouldn't hesitate. If I had a adoptive child, that child would be just like one of my own, and wouldn't hesitate either. I think this is a wonderful story of love, and it proves that prayers and miracles do happen. After I leave this Earth, I want whatever part of me that can save someone's life to have it. But before I leave, I pray that I never have to, I will be there in a heart beat to give my kids any part of me as long as they will be healthy.

That is so unbelievably cool! I wonder if that has ever happened before. I don't have children, but I'd give one to my parents or sister if I was a match.

That is a wonderful story. My dad had a kidney transplant in June of 2006. He had been on the waiting list for about 4 years. When we first learned that he needed a kidney transplant some family members were willing to donate a kidney. It is so hard to find someone to match because there are so many things that have to match up. My aunt (my father's sister) was a perfect match, but when they found that she was at risk for developing sugar diabetes they would not let her donate her kidney so my dad was forced to go on the waiting list. We don't know who it was who donated their kidney, but I thank God that they did. They gave my dad a chance to live a longer life and see more grandchildren and great grandchildren born. It has been a blessing. Now that I've said that, if I could donate my kidney to someone that I loved, I would do it. If you love someone enough you will do anything for them especially if it means giving them a chance to live. Thanks for sharing this story, winterrose, it has really touched my heart.
