Do you think that churches who announce what charities and how many people they have helped is bragging? How about churches who keep asking for donations...like three times during a service? Good? I went to this church Christmas thing last night. The host guy came on stage three times during the production and repeatedly asked for donations. He also keeps talking about all the wonderful things their church has done. Personally I don't like those HUGE churches. Where it doesn't seem like you are going to church but a show. The building has like two floors of seats, Stadium style. That's just my opinion. What's YOUR opinion?

I do agree it. I don't like it. If people get donation at least 40% of it must go to the poor people and not mere in buildings. Instead of building big structures we can feed the poor or educate someone who is in need.

I'd say it depends on how and why it is done. If the church is simply letting the people know how their money will be used, then I'd say there's nothing wrong with it. If the church is telling you how great they are because of what they are doing, then they are probably stepping over the line into bragging. I was talking to a man who was pretty bitter against my own religion. He said that the LDS Church doesn't do anything charitible, and added that the few times they do anything charitible you can be sure it will be plastered all over the news. The ironic part was... the man had lived in the Salt Lake City area for a lot of years and had no idea about "Welfare Square" or the very extensive charity system run by the LDS Church. In other words, the fact he was ignorant of what was going on almost under his nose was a witness to how wrong his statement was. ;~D

of course, they are bragging if a church would really announce all that they done and call all those achievements to be in the field of charities. as for those groups who collect so much money from people from all walks of life and then call them as 'donations for the poor and the needy, please'...neither could i look at their way with favor. for me, the church which is really helping the poor do not make announcements of what they are doing and as to how much have they achieved in their various endeavors. and i do not believe that it is proper for a church or a religious group to be continuously asking money from their members (worse, even from non members) because, we all have our financial troubles, too. to be asked once in a week is just the right frequency of doing so.
