when do i get the star with the number??

pardon me if the question i am asking is a silly one.. i am new to mylot and i couldnt help noticing that the experienced members of mylot have a star next to their name in each post of theirs.. and newbies like us do not... so i figured that
1.either we need to reach a certain number of posts to get that star
2. or the quality of my posts are too bad
i really hope its not the 2nd option...
please help..
really would like to know..

Hello and welcome to MyLot! You get a star next to your name when you reach your 100th post! So don't worry, it isn't the 2nd option! The number on the star depends on the quality of your posts however. People can rate your responses positively and negatively, these rates will determine the number and colour of your star. If you scroll over the star, you will also see how much your rating is on 100.

Not only does the rating depend on the quality, but sadly it also depends on whether people agree with your standpoint. If you want a great rating (which I don't seem to have, because I got in a political debate months back), you should steer clear of anything really controversial. Unfortunately no matter what side you pick, people will be quicker to hit the - than the +.

They said it will automatically appear once you hit 100 posts in myLot. It the star with the number represents your reputation in myLot. My friend told me that the higher the number the better because it means that everybody likes you in myLot and if you have a low rating, it means that people in myLot doesn't like you that much and they rate your responses and discussions negative. I hope it will not happen to us. Happy New Year!

when you get to a 100 by your name you should start getting stars by your name it,s not easy getting those stars and keeping them is the key.anyone can rate you negative at anytime and your stars will start going down but you can build them back up again.

it's actually a combination of both.. =)
when you hit 100 posts, a star would appear. But the number and the colour of the star would differ from the quality of the post.
your ideal should be a blue star with a 10 in it. that would mean you have posted quality posts... and this rating comes from fellow mylotters... if they feel that your post is good, they would give you a + sign..

Hi to all........... Nisha, you can get the star if you reach 100 posts......... If you are active and if your quality of the posts are good, then your rating increases at a much faster rate..........
