Washing Sneakers in the Washer/Dryer

I buy the cheap kind of white sneakers for myself. I believe they are called tennis sneakers. When they get too dirty I throw them in the washing machine and then the dryer. My husband can't stand when I put them in the dryer. He says it isn't good for the dryer for them to be banging around. Does anyone else wash their sneakers in the washing machine and then dry them in the dryer?

Yes near the water heater is a great place to dry things. I just need to find a place to hang them.

There is a shelf you can especually buy for that. You hook it on the sides of the dryer somehow so they just sit ontop of it and won't be thrown around the dryer. My hubby doesn't want me to do this either. Have a nice day

Hello Shar. I have never washed my sneakers in the washing machine, but hand-wash only. Our washing machine is only used to wash clothes and sheets and blankets and such. I am wondering whether the sneakers will be badly shaped in the washing machines. Enjoy yourself and take care, friend.

I was mine in the washer and then let them air dry. Not becuse of the banging in the dryer that happens, but because I notice my shoes(which are cheap ones also) tend to last longer this way...

I have, but I don't do it too often. I can't see it being bad for the dryer though. They say when you wash a coat or something of that sort you are to put tennis balls in with it. Tennis balls bang around so it can't be bad if shoes do.

Well I have never washed sneakers/trainers in a washing machine. But I have washed slippers when they have gotten quite dirty. I have no idea if it is bad for the machine, but I guess it must be in the long run as there is probably quite a lot of force exerted on the inner walls of the machine drum. Might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer of your machine to see what they think?
