the truck driver goes without sleep and not eating like they should because they have most of their meals on the road.if we didn,t have truck driver to delivery our clothes to the the stores, our food ,from different countries so we can have what we need.without trucks and their driver many luxury we have now we wouldn,t have.truck and their drivers make it possible.i was setting here thinking if we didn,t have those big trucks you see on the road and their driver we will not have the things in the store we buy each and every day.

I have driven a truck for 36 years now, and you would be surprised how many times I have been told that big trucks should be banned from the roads. It is true, that big trucks make big messes, but most often an accident happens because of bad weather or some 4 wheeler(thats what we called cars)cut us off or something else stupid, and usually the truck driver gets blamed for it. Don't get me wrong because there are some truck drivers that should not be driving...anything. One day some lady came up to me as I was getting out of the truck and told me we shouldn't be allowed on the road with cars. Rather than getting upset with her, I simply asked her just how far she would be willing to go to get her own stuff? My satisfaction was in the blank look on her face when I walked away. Aside from all that, I (as a truck driver) thank you for your endorsement.

My husband is a truck driver and he tells me about those four wheelers all the time, he has a video camera on the front dash and OMG some of the stuff he tapes is horrifying! Some people just do not have a clue!

It has been my dream since I was a small child to be a truck driver. I came close a couple of times and have traveled all over this country but I have never really driven the big rigs. I am thinking that even now I could go in for this but I am not sure. I will have to give it some more thought.

Truck drivers do keep the nation moving. But They have to keep a log and are not to drive over 11 hrs. in any day and can't work over 14 hr. They must rest for 10 hours before getting behind the wheel again. They can't work over 60 hours per week. This is to keep them safe. In my opinion they need to rest more often after all driving that long is very tiring. Even riding that long can wear you out. Any way my hat's is off to all those truck drivers.

Roughly 90% of the products we use everyday come to the store on trucks. If all trucks stopped moving the store shelves would be empty within a day or so. If you think about it that is a scary thought. Our entire economy could collapse without the truck driver. That makes it all the sadder when you realize most of them do not make more than 10$ per hour. No wonder there is a shortage of drivers. I used to drive truck.

I think we are going to see a lot more delevery men on the roads with the internet in the future. Lots more people are buying online and getting things delivered more to their homes. I think driving trucks and delivery men are the career to take in the future. I do think they work long hours though and should get more breaks and things than they do. I drive myself and I really think it must be very tiring doing this job.

yes they are all good points, but the guys that deliver to the stores for the most part work in town and so it is not long distance, my father has been a truck driver since he was 15 he did long distance halls but for the last 20 years it is in town delivering MacCain products to the grocery stores.

They do a remarkable job. If it was not for them we would have problems buying most stuff from supermarkets and others stores. Thanks for bring up this subject.
