For or Against The Death Penalty

In this country under the current legal system, I am against it. The cost of persuing the death penalty is just too great. Texas, with over 300 people on death row, is spending an estimated $2.3 million per case, but its murder rate remains one of the highest in the country. The investigation costs for death-sentence cases were about 3 times greater than for non-death cases. The trial costs for death cases were about 16 times greater than for non-death cases ($508,000 for death case; $32,000 for non-death case). The appeal costs for death cases were 21 times greater. Trials involving a death sentence averaged 34 days, including jury selection; non-death trials averaged about 9 days. But... The costs of carrying out (i.e. incarceration and/or execution) a death sentence were about half the costs of carrying out a non-death sentence in a comparable case. I think some of the people on death row should fry, but why not let them just rot in jail for the rest of their life and save Millions every year? Take the money saved and put it to good use... at least in a perfect world.

I am against it but I don't think they should ever be released when it is a serious crime and they should not have any luxuries whilst in gaol..I think when some one murders and takes a life then their life belongs to the State so to speak, no pivledges, no communication with the outside world and the only thing they get is food and water and a blanket for the rest of their lives..some people say that is harsh but they took a life they should give theirs but they are give life so it has to be a hard one...
