Paranoid depression or Bipolar?................

I was diagnosed by my family doctor with paranoid depression a year ago. He treated me for it and I haven't had any problems since. I've been off my medication for awhile now and things have come up in my life. Everyone is wanting me to go back on medication just because I'm very stressed out with what's going on. I haven't had any signs of relapsing and I don't lose control. Some people are saying maybe I have bipolar. I'm sick of this crap.

These people are just worried about you, and with good reason. They may be seeing things happening in your behavior that you aren't aware of. I've suffered from depression for years. I take medication for it and have come to realize that I will have to take it for the rest of my life. When something very very stressful happens, I begin to fall apart slowly. Usually I don't even realize it's happening. If I see the doctor or take a little extra medication to get me over the hump, then I'll ride it out okay. The couple of times I've thought I could handle it on my own I've ended up in the hospital.
