why we use?

Why we use "surfing" as a verb for internet? i don,t feel like surfing here.

Surfing is used for the world wide web esp navigating through hypertext documents. Because you visit a site, pick up a link follow it and go to another page and continue so on until you find the desired page. Just like surfing, u start, pick up a wave, get another wave and so on... but this is only a theory, I dun REALLY know why its called so.

Let me try this one. I think surfing meant for when you're randomly (or not random at all) looking around, skimming pages, glancing here and there. It's not meant for when you're gaming, posting discussions, or actually doing something with a purpose. Does that make sense?
