Got scared by the sound at mylot screen page of the sound-making ads, please?

Hello mylotters, Happy New Year to you
Have you ever been scared by the sound at mylot screen page when your cursor moves across the sound-making ads while you are reading or responding to a discussion?
It sounds and utters as follows,
A: "Hahahaha".
B: "Oh, behave."
There have been a few times that I got scared by the sound it uttered when I did not pay any attention to its existence.
Do you know what I am talking about, please?
So have you ever been scared by the sound?

Maybe that sound to greets you for a Happy New Year 2009. To cheers you as well as appreciating your hyperactive on myLot rocketing above 10,000 n.o.p. in short time. But, frankly speaking I didn't noticed which sound and where it came from to you. Is there any special button or once inadvertently pressed one button or link that makes the sound 'triggered'?.

I fell victim to it, too. The first time my cursor passed by it by accident, I almost jumped out of my chair. It was past midnight and everything was quiet around me. When all of a sudden, there was this horrible devil laugh!
It turned out it was an emoticon devil.

Thanks! and Happy New Year to you, too. It's a brand new year so I spent some time changing my profile and decided to change my avatar as well. As for the little yellow birdie, it flew away with 2008!
That's why, whenever I spend time here at Mylot and it's past midnight and everything's quiet, I make sure that I turn off the sound. That way, there won't be no more surprises for me.

oh yes... i also sometimes got scared by the sound... i think it is the sound of the smileys and it can be really loud... sometimes it can be really loud especially if i am inside a very quiet room... i know what you mean and i hope mylot will do something to stop the noise... it is really annoying... take care and have a nice day...

Happy New Year! I know what you meant and I have the same feeling:) Since I don't play any music when my computer is on. So I will feel scared when there is such kind of sound suddenly:) Perhaps we have to try to adjust to it:)

Can't say that I was scared. But, yes, the sounds have startled me. I live alone & will be thinking of something & suddenly this loud sound comes out of nowhere. I didn't think of where my mouse was roaming!!!

yes, i was scaed by the sounds for the first time, i thought there was something else that made this noise, and i check it finded it was mylot.

I think they are those annoying emoticons making those awful sounds and you are not the only one my friend, they make me jump! Sometimes I have to have my mute button on because I do a lot of surfing as well I get annoying adverts with disruptive sounds on them and when I get an emoticon that screams at me or makes a stupid noise it is very inconvenient and irritating. Trouble is I play my Itunes on my computer so I can't stop the interuptions and they always make me jump because they do it spontaneously!

You are right that it is those emoticons that make the awful sounds without my knowing it that gave me a start for a few times. But if I notice it, I always try to avoid my cursor move across it. Happy New Year to my dear wolfie.

This happened to me many times previously when I used to keep the volume of the computer quite high, really high and whenever some alerts or popups used to come p with a bang, dong, groom!! but now I am little wiser, i try to keep the volume down..

Yes, I have! All of a sudden I'll hear a loud female voice say, "Congratulations, you've won a Wii!" Or occasionally I'll get a monotonous voice that I cannot tell whether it is male or female. I have the sound off right now, so I don't have to worrry about that at the moment. lol

hahahah was it the emotes? hubby sometimes wakes up when he hears that too
it's kind of annoying isn't it
but I find it funny sometimes especially when I'm in a good mood

Yeah, it is the emotion icon that utters. I did not know it there until my cursor moved across it with the terrifying noise in my quiet room at late night. Got so scared by it.

Lol, thats quite funny! I have never been truly 'scared' although I do find it a bit alarming sometimes! I usually turn the computer onto 'mute' when it starts making silly noises. I can't imagine anyone gets any sort of pleasure from talking adverts. I am guessing that most people find them a bit irritating!
