Have you ever taken a trip in winter time. I realized that I haven't got enough suitable clothes for my trip to Cape Town. I looked in many ladies clothes shops and saw warm clothing. I asked one of the assistants if the shop I was in had any pairs of shorts. She went into the shock room and came back with a few pairs of shorts. I managed to buy a white pair of shorts and a blue pair of shorts. I had no difficulty buying a couple of t-shirts. The next thing I need to buy is sun cream. At the moment it feels freezing cold in my home country and I can't wait to go off to sunny South Africa. Have you ever traveled in winter? If so where? Do you sometimes have difficultly buying anything for a vacation? If so what?

I have traveled in the winter time and at Christmas have gone from Erie, Pennsyvlania ( usually very cold and snowy) across the state of New York to New Hampshire. It is a trip that usually involves encountering snow along the way.

Snow on the ground is lovely to see however traveling can be challenging on icy streets. I am sure that you dressed warmly for that trip. I went to Bruges and saw it snow so it was incredibly difficult for cycling however it looked beautiful there.

It is so very cold in m home country that I bought some ski socks. One year I went to Switzerland and Austria and the snowy landscape looked so picturesque.

Yes I always travel to europe during their winter time. I prepared enough winter clothing for myself. Usually I wear in layers because sometimes the weather is bit crazy they can turn hot and cold. Is easier then with layers. In Russia is best to wear thick instead of layers. That is why I prepare thick clothes too when I come back to Russia I change my clothes for sure. Also when travelling in winter is important to bring Umbrella or some other clothes which can protect you when is raining. Also a pair of gloves because it is too cold sometimes freeze our hands. I always bring extra because sometimes I lost my gloves without realiazing it. Also it is most important to wear a very comfortable and warm shoes that is not too heavy and convivient for walking long distances. It must not be too tight or too loose as they may cause vesicles and must bring plenty of shocks or at least 3 pairs. Shoes must be warm the weahter can go so cold that the wind penetrate the shoes and you get froze bit toes go numb :P. also wintercap is important tocover our head when the wind blow. I have travelled to Prague, Germany, Austria, Moscow, Italy in winter. It is best to check out the weather first before travelling to prepare what is needed. I dont't have much difficulty buying things for vacation. We can always get them here plenty of shops. Just need to budget which to get. :P cheers

Sometimes I find it better to buy clothes on my holiday location, as they're more appropriate, and often less expensive. Have a great holiday max.

Happy New Year, maximax. The only trip I travel in winter is the time when I start to have my winter vacation and I travel down way to the south from the east to my hometown which is a little warmer. I will soon go back to my hometown in anther fortnight. I am looking forward to it. I think that you are getting excited for your trip to the warm country right now. I wish you to enjoy yourself there.

I have gone on a few winter holidays. I have been to different cities in Mexico and I have gone to Vegas, I love to go somewhere every year, it breaks up the winter months that way. I have never been to Africa but would love to go, but can't afford to. I haven't been able to afford to go for the last couple years now and the winters are so long this way. I wish I could afford to go somewhere this year as we are having a really cold winter and I think it is going to be really long. A nice warm holiday would be great right about now, so lucky you. I haven't had to buy any new clothes just for a holiday. I have everything I would need right now at home. I could use a new bathsuit but that is something I will look for this summer when there are a lot of choices out. Have fun on your holiday my friend. I hope you take a lot of pictures and post some here for the rest of us to enjoy too. Thanks. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

When I am going away on a major trip I try and buy things throughout the year leading up to it so that I have stuff stored ready as I pack it all in a bag ready to pack when it's time to go. o you go very soon to South Africa after New Year? x

Hi Max Bet you are getting excited about your holiday! Yep, you will need summer clothes, although you might be better off (if you have time and inclination - lol) to pick up a few things in SA. The clothing will be more weather appropriate if you know what I mean. Prices, possibly a bit cheaper, possibly not and who knows what sort of quality you will be looking at - guess it depends on where you shop. I imagine though that your trip is jam packed and doesn't leave a lot of time for clothes shopping! As to your question - yes, we have just returned from Christmas in Scotland! It was fun buying all the snow clothes which we thought we might need (we went to Avimore near the ski fields) ... in the event, there was no snow and it was fairly warm. This week we return to Worcester and it is colder here than it was in Scotland!!! So much for a white christmas! lol Violetdreams
