I used to but now I don't. I don't like keeping one for a few reasons. I don't want people reading it and I don't have anything special ever happening that I need to record. But mainly for the reason that I don't want people reading it. DO you keep a diary?

I do something sort of like a diary for my son and I have been doing it for the past 5 years. I have several of those spiral bound calendars with blocks that you can write in. Since my son was born I made it a habit to write down at least one sentence about him. Kids grow up so fast and there is so much to write about them. When my son was a baby I would jot down when he would reach certain milestones like getting his first tooth, slept through the night, smiled for the first time etc... It is nice to have a record of these things plus when my friends who had babies after me had questions they'd just call me up and ask me to check my book to tell them when they could expect their baby's milestones to happen. After the first year there are still things to write about such as what we did together each day and cute things that toddlers do and say. If there isn't much to write about on a certain day I could always take the time to just write down a note to my son about how much I love him. I decided to do this journal because I have always heard people say I wish I would have wrote that down or I could fill a book with what children say. I will be able to remember every day of my son's young life and when he is older he can read it too and see how much I loved him. It only takes about 5 minutes a day to create a book that you will cherish for a lifetime. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I used to write in a diary a few times a month when I was in elementary school and middle school. It was silly. Most of the entries were about the guy that I liked or who I thought was cute. I did write a few things in there after I got to high school, but it was just stupid things about the guy I was dating at the time. I actually kept my diary all the way until I got married 7 years ago. I found it in a box with some of my other things and I read some of it to my husband. It was so cute, but a bit childish. I found that it wasn't anything worth keeping because it was about other guys and I had found the love of my life. I threw them away and I don't regret it one bit.

Yeah... it would feel weird to go back and read those after all those years. That sounds really cute. I think I probably would have thrown them away too if I were you.

For most of my life I have kept a diary off and on, a few periods where I didn't write anything, but I always had them and I would write in it every single day, all my thoughts, feelings and emotions would go down. That was until my ex found them and read them, I was mortified and I felt my privacy totally invaded, since then I burnt every single diary and I haven't done a diary since. Becareful what you write down, if it is read by others they can use what you have written against you!

OMG... That's scary. Well that's probably the main reason I don't keep one anymore. I'm waay too scared that someone whould read it.

i used to keep a 'diary' - but i never wrote any detailed journals or such.. just happenings / events on the certain dates - so it's more like 'recording' events on a monthly scheduler.. nowadays i do the same - i note/record important events (without much details).. but i do it either on my mobilephone calendar or my computer calendar...

well many people say that one should maintain a diary and there are many reasons to do so.however i dont maintain a diary as i dont feel like since i dont forget things which are important to me.they are close to my heart.however i think that maybe after few years may feel the need but like you i also never want it to get into somebody's hand as my personal thoughts are personal and i would not want it to be shared.
