Since we still have two tvs which are old and use analog signals, I got two of the free forty dollar coupons from the government to apply on two new digital tv converter boxes. I had my youngest install one of them for me, since I have trouble reading all that tiny print on the instructions. That was fine. The converter box worked well for a time, then just stopped working. It was a piece of junk. Now i have to buy another digital tv converter box, which will cost me full price since i no longer have to coupon to use to help pay for it. Are all of these tv digital converter boxer junk? Has your converter box been good to use?

Take it back where you got it before you go to get another one. Demand that they give you back your coupon. Where did you get the converter in the first place? and what brand is it. I have my coupons but haven't used them yet. I would like to avoid your situation.

I bought it from Radio Shack down the street. It did not last a long time, but long enough so that they would do nothing about it. They never told me i could buy an extended warrenty from them.

I thought Radio Shack would be better than that. Thanks for the information about the warranty. I have the coupon but haven't gotten the box yet. Need to do some research on them before I get one. Did you also have to get a new antenna?

I would call the company. We have cable, but I ordered and got mine also. I figure if the economy keeps spirally downward, at least we can see a few channels. Right now we can pull 18.

I would take it back and get a new one, but not at Radio Shack. They usually make generic ones, and it might not work in your particular city. I think that when the government gave you that coupons they intended to you to go to Verizon, Comcast, or whatever cable company you have in your area, not just at the local computer store. Usually they can get a whole lot of cable converters and sell them for you less then you would get paying the full price because that is all the cable companies deal in, cable boxes, and cable converters whereas Radio Shack sells a whole lot of other products and does not have that much on hand.

I have two friends that told me the same exact thing, they got the boxes and it appeared to be working for a while then it stopped on them and no longer does anything. Hmmmmm wonder what's going on with that. Need to ask them where they bought theirs.

You are not alone my friend got hers and the not quit working but also ruined her tv.I think that is just a scam so people will have to buy a new tv.I could see it if one box was bad but there are to many, people having problems with those boxes.
