How do u say happy new year...

to a good friend who is driving an hr. and a half right now to go see her mom for her last days maybe hours of her life? her mom has been suffering from kidney and liver failure and has been on hospice care for months now, she got the call early this morning saying to come and say goodbye now, what do i say? i want to say the right thing, please help... *Hope everyone has a Happy New Year*

I would just call and talk with her. I am not sure that Happy New Year would even be appropriate at this time. I would definitely let her know that you are here if she needs you and remind her that her mothers pain will soon be in the past. Just be there for her, she is probably really needing a friend right now.

I wouldn't even mention the New Year unless she does. Just listen and tell her you are thinking about her and that you love her a lot. Tell her the things in your heart. They will be the right things!

Don't try to make it "all better", because you can't. Just listen and sympathize.

thanks, unfortunately her mom did pass away early this morning, but after new yrs. so she text me happy new yr. and i did back. but at 4 am she texted me with the sad news n i sent my condolences.
