I don't want it to end!

Have you ever been reading a series and were really, really into in the beginning and you couldn't put the book down or stop reading? Then when you're closer to the end of the series you start to read less and less because you don't want it to end! I'm like that now with the Twilight series. I don't want to finish it because I don't want it to end! It was like that with Harry Potter for me too, I did finish it though. It's weird though because there won't be anymore books like that! Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I was the same way with Stephen King's Dark Tower series, but for a different reason: the final book was TERRIBLE. Come to think of it, I didn't like Return of the Jedi either. I think it's because in both cases they seemed to be rush jobs.

I was SOOO disappointed with the final Dark Tower book. I was actually glad that my father had passed away before it was printed because I know he would have disliked it as much as I did. I think I even disuaded my sister from reading it because I didn't like it. To wait that long for a book to come out then have it be that awful should be against the law :)

I actually almost stopped reading the book when that happened. I mean that was just not fair to use faithful readers. I am glad that the series is over though because it could have gotten a lot worse!

The thing I hated about it was how they met a character named...Stephen King. Who's a writer. The only way he could've made it more disappointing is to do the whole series and then close it with "...and then Roland woke up."

Yup I am like that. Thats me and the twilight series. I love the book so much. I read book 2 and 3 in less then five days becuase I didnt want to put it down. Same goes with the twilight movie, when it was close to the end I was sad. Knowing what happens in the books, I dont wanna have to wait another year for one to come out.

This is one of those can't put down books and the 1st one I read in 24 hours it did help that I was in bed sick. The 2nd one in 2 days. The 3rd in about 1/2 week and the 4th it took about a week for me to read it. The last one did have more pages but I was happy with the way it ended and I can't wait to read more books by this aurthor. Another good book that I read in a week which was during the holidays so I didn't read as much as I could have but its called Bone Cold by Erica Spindler. Its another one of those you can't put it down until you find out what happens next.

Yes, Harry Potter was like that for me too. Especially the way it ended! I never want a book to end. It's not just that way with series books. I get that way with regular books too.

yeah,I understand your feeling. but there is no endless book existed. I also get into a series story of teleplay named 'prison break'. One week only put out one set last 3 years,it's nearly ending. I'm learning to put it down.

I know just what you mean, but it's ok, because you can read 'The Host'. And Stephanie Meyer and J.K. Rowling are great authors with massive imaginations and they are both bound to come up with something else eventually, even if they have to take a break first.

Oh, TOTALLY!!! I'm never sure if I really enjoy those books or not though because when you're done reading them it's like an empty feeling for a while. I'm reading a good book now and I want to finish it to find out what happens, but I don't want to finish it because I'm enjoying reading it so much!

Yep. I know exactly what you mean. I like mysteries of the type they call "cozies". Whenever I start a series I make sure the author has written at least 3 or 4 books in the series so I can drag it out. Of course, it always ends anyway. Right now I'm waiting for Jane Haddon to come up with a new Gregor Demarkian book since that's my current favorite and I've read every one I could find in print.

I am like that with all the books most of the books that i read... i would always wish that the story would never end because i so want to know what happened to each character... this is why i prefer the series like Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Event... With Twilight... i have gone to some bookstores but they do not have a stock of the books... i hope they will have some soon...

yes, i was actually fond of reading before. And i notice that i also don't want the story to end, especially if it's a good book. I know what happens when it ends, it would leave me hanging even if it's a good ending. I would keep wondering, "What happens after that?" It's not so easy to let go when I am already absorbed with the book and its characters.

Hi there Vanonas. I happen to have this problem myself. I am currently nearing the end of my 5 books series with Becky Bloomwood - a very funny story by Sophie Kinsella about a shopaholic that gets into all sort of troubles. Last night i staid up from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. because i was really curios to learn what is going to happen in the book next and i only went to sleep after the action calmed down a bit.

No, I don`t understand You. I have a tendency to start many books at the same time, but I don`t read non of them till the end! Because a book is not like a movie: can`t end it within 2 hours! So when I start to read a book, I always think of: when will something interesting appear in this story? How much is left till the end? Do I really need to read this book or am I wasting my time?

Oh yes. David Eddings is such a fantastic writer, I've had that problem with all his series. I learned the hard way to wait till he's finished with a series before I even start it. I made the mistake of starting The Diamond Throne before he was done with the series. I had a horrid time waiting for the next book, then the next... I just got The Dreamers series. I can't slow down though. I enjoy them so much, I can't get anything else done while I'm in the middle of it.

I can totally relate. I was that way with "The Shadow Children" series by Marget Peterson Haddix and Harry Potter as well. I didn't even finish the 7th book of Harry until this year.

Yeah I understand. Harry Potter series did that to me too. And so did Lord of the Rings. Many movies do that to me. I just don't want it to end. Pretty Woman was such a movie. I put the ending off for three days before curiosity overcame me... Ofcourse i already knew how it'd end. it had to have a happy ending

Well, not necessarily a novel. I started with Naruto the Anime Series. I had to catch up since I started when the series is up to episode 90 already. Well, I was able to catch up but I feel that the weeks are dragging me since I need to wait for the new episode posted online. So, I started reading the manga and sustained the excitement without thinking about the next issues... Then, I caught up. Before I shifted to manga, i felt watching 1 episode per day unlike 3 - 5 episodes when I started. Same thing happened when I caught up with the manga series. Funny, but I guess it is human nature to cling on to something that we really love. Great day, vanonas.

This always happens to me! I think it's the mark of a good book. :) This is exactly how I felt while reading the Twilight series. I was so excited to know what would happen in the end that I breezed through books 1-3 and by the time I got to the end, I just wanted to read the next book! Unfortunately, Meyer's "Host" was really dull for me. And the movie was a total disappointment. :(

It sure did! The Catcher In The Rye is such an addicting book. You just want to start it over and over again. My girlfriend read it more than 20 times. It's an incredible book... So is Perfume by Patrick Suskind. It's really captivating... Now that you've mentioned, maybe I'll start reading it again.
