How did you count down or welcome the new year 2009?

Year 2009 came finally and there are many celebrations for counting down the new year! I finally stayed home, got really sleepy and went to bed at 11.00pm and missed the count down. Or should I say I count down in my dreams? *laughs* What about you?

Hi wondericequeen. It sounds like you had a nice, quiet New Years. Nothing wrong with that. I've fallen asleep many nights myself on New Years. For the last 5 years or so, my husband and I have been inviting 2 of my sisters and their husbands over for dinner and playing cards and games. They never last til midnight and usually leave to go home by 11. This year, we were so exhausted from all the company, cleaning, cooking, shopping, wrappy, and entertaining, we just stayed home alone and didn't even invite anybody over. We fixed some h'ors d'oeuvres and watched TV and talked. We actually made it until 12:20 p.m. We watched the ball drop in NY on TV. It was a nice quiet New Year and I loved it. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year wonderice! It is always nice to miss the countdown sometimes. I too had a very quiet night though I was not at my home for most of it. Even though we were up at the strike of 12 it passed without much celebration. We were pleased to be with family and friends though. Given the hard times that many are faced with these days there where quite nights in many a home. For all the excitement of the coming year there is also a great deal of uncertainty and unrest. We can but hope for the best. :) When I finally got home last night I spent a bit of time updating my blog (rather I wrote a post) so at least I started my new year writing! May your 2009 be inspiring and beneficial as you achieve whatever it is you set out to do. ~ Fairy Wishes & Butterfly Kisses ~ http://rhiannasfairygarden.blogspot.com/2009/01/welcome-2009.html

Well, actually it is only going on 8 p.m. here so we still have 4 hrs. until midnight here, and it is still 1 hr. from midnight here in the USA. I will be posting here in myLot for the next hr. and then I will be watching the New Years Celebrations in NYC and spending time with my husband. I am just hoping I can stay up until midnight as well. I have to work in the morning so I do need to make sure and get to bed just after this for sure.

That sounds like an excellent way to do it! I will probably be playing games on King.com and miss the countdown altogether.
