Favorite food for New Years

What is your favorite food to eat today? I've always heard it's a custom to eat black eyed peas and collard greens and ham hock. But we never have it. Other say to eat 'high on the hog' (steak) so you will be prosperous the whole New Year. Of course, I don't buy into any of the things people say about eating and becoming prosperous. I eat whatever I want. Today, we will probably have Chili that I made last night. I just don't want to cook anything else. I had thought about buying steak yesterday at the grocery store, but decided not to do it. Who wants to go out and grill a steak in cold weather? Not me, and I didn't think my husband would want to do it, either.

Here where I live it is the custom to have blackeyed beans and collard greens for new years dinner. The Blackeyed beans are for luck and the collard greens for wealth. but I have never had them on New years day because my grandson doesn't like them. Today I had left overs for lunch because both the kids had to work and I wanted to get the left overs used up.

We eat black eyed peas and cabbage. One for Good luck and one for wealth. I am not sure which is which. However they are good and I love them. Yummmy! Cant wait to eat some.
