Sweet Recipes on New Years Eve

Aside from the famous spaghetti, pork barbecue. menudo, grilled fish, ham,chicken macaroni salad I noticed the table was dominant with sweet food like leche plan, ube (halaya) fruit salad, rice cakes with sweetened jackfruit, refrigerator cakes, fruit cake, ice cream and of course the sweet round fruits traditionally prepared on New Years Eve. Does sweet food connotes sweet happenings with positive results of whatever endeavors, will be going through this year?. I think so that's why the presence of sweet food in our table for us to eat is being observed on New Year's Eve. Is it the same with you? Do you prepare sweets too, on New Years Eve?
