Sister in need of fashion advice (plus size)

January 2, 2009 12:29am CST
Hi, My sister is 14 years old, approx 5ft 3" and is overweight (38" waist). She wants to buy some new clothes and is in need of some fashion advice for plus size teens. Does anyone have any recommendations for her? Either advice or website links? I do not know much about fashion but I've said to her because she is short to wear heels and not so baggy clothes (something tighter but not too tigher)

can she fit into Torrid? They've got some trendy stuff there for plus sizes, though I'd watch the sizes because depending on where things were made the sizes can be off. Fashion Bug isn't too bad either, but they can be pricey though still cheaper than Lane Bryant. Deb (in the malls) has a plus store too. I've only seen it at a mall out of state so they do exist. But again it seems like the trendier stuff the worse the fit is (see above). I grabbed armfulls there of things that were cute and in my "normal" size and found them to be snugger than I'd like or the arms too small and I don't carry my weight in my arms!!! *LOL*

I don't know most of the stores you listed although I've heard of Debs. Thanks for the recommendations, I will ask her if she knows of these stores. I've always said to her that wearing heeled boots looked better than flat boots, what do you think? She is short so adding the illusion of height is a good thing I think.

Ask her to wear clothes with vertical stripes. (horizontal ones make ppl look fat). its better to wear clothes tat are not too loose or tight. Just the perfect fit(a bit loose if necessary). Its advisable not to wear full sleeves, it makes people look bulkier. shades are an important feature. dress with lots of designs big pictures are not recommended. uniform shades at times work well. If I'm right, black etcthose kinds of dark colours make people look thinner. if u ask her to wear heels, its better not to wear pointed ones, 'cos its not tat good(on behalf of health) it gives a lot of strain. But at the end of the day its the attitude and how u r able to carry it matters. I happen to come across these website, just check it out, in case they are helpful.
