I went to a place near my house where dogs are legally sold. I like visiting the stores to see if there are cute dogs on sale. I don't buy any of course because I'm allergic to dogs. But today, Jan 2, I went by and saw so many adorable puppies! I think the breeders make sure they have a lot of puppies to sell around Christmas time... It's funny but sad at the same time. I saw a really cute english bulldog and a lot of shitzus...

It is sad to hear that breeders sell their puppies to stores. For me it is unethical to seell your puppies for christmas time. Most of them would end up as unwanted gifts and thus would increas ehte problems of stray dogs.

I don't think it's 'breeders' that really sell their puppies to a pet store. To think about how much time and energy and money a GOOD BREEDER puts into their dogs, there's no way they'd sell them at a rock bottom price to a pet store to be resold to people they'd never get to meet. It would be too heartbreaking. No, quite likely they were churned out from commercial dog breeding facilities like a puppy mill or possibly from a backyard breeder with dollar signs in their eyes. Never let a pet store tell you those puppies came from a good breeder. No good breeder would want their babies under that kind of stress, or wouldn't mind never seeing them again.

Yeah backyard breeders are the ones who probably sell to pet stores because they don't have contacts who are interested in buying from them...

Aww.^_^ I do that too sometimes when I pass by a pet shop or something. I just look at the dogs and other pets for sale but I also feel sad to see them caged up and being displayed like that. We did have a new puppy last Christmas. We didnt buy him. Mom's officemate gave it to her as a Christmas gift cause they already have so many dogs. To my surprise Mom accepted cause Ive been pestering her to get a cat or a small dog for the past few years. The puppy has gotten bigger than he first came in but still a puppy. Hehehe

Yeah, I saw some cute corgis and chow dogs who were trapped in a cage too small for them..Wish I could take them home! You're lucky your mom allows pets at home, mine doesn't! :(

Well, the big dog was always just outside. The puppy had a taste of what its like inside for a few days, until he started pooping anywhere he likes, so we had to put him in the garage. The house was starting to smell like dog too. Phew

Puppies are very cute and so are kittens. I agree that that is probably one of the reasons why their are so many around Christmas. I don't think I've ever gotten a pet from a shop though, they've been strays or were from breeders...

Well puppies at pet shops are very expensive, especially over the holidays! It's better to contact a breeder about it if you want to save money. I don't like kittens. They're smart, but just not cute for me.

Yes, they probably do try to have a lot of cute puppies around Christmas time. My daughter's dad got her a puppy for Christmas. Thank God it is at his house. I love animals but they carry so much responsibility and I just don't have time for it right now.

Okay you're the only one who doesn't have a negative comment about dogs being sold in a store! Haha! What kind did your daughter get?
