Do you work out with weights?

I used to work out with weights a lot and we have a weight bench that we don't use too much anymore. No time, no energy, lots of excuses. One of my New Year's resolutions was to get back into my weight training and start getting myself toned up. I love working my legs since those are my strongest muscles but I hate doing my upper half. I'm hoping to change that or at least even it out a bit. Anybody else do weight training? What are your favorite moves?

I am fortunate enough in this case.I luckily don't put on much weight no matter what my diet is.My height is 5'6" and the maximum weight I have ever reached is 50kgs which is like way below normal for a person of my height. I have never gone for any weight or flab reduction program till now but yes, have tried in vain to increase it. My parents are always complaining about my being skinny. Well,I may be underweight but I don't think I am skinny. I have undergone some fitness training program recently but had to leave it because of lack of time.My favorite would be cycling.I really enjoy it and hence don't mind going on with it for hours.:)

Well if you add some lean muscle mass to your body that will help increase your weight a bit, and for you maybe add some bulk. It isn't too hard to do, you just have to be consistent and keep at it. I have never really worried about my weight too much.

I was always in pretty good health and shape, well until I hit 30 and changed from hard labour to working online for a living. Well that's when I started putting on weight. I went from 145 pounds and very lean to 212 pounds and looked like the pillsbury dough boy. Well I started working out with weights and changed how much I was eating. I managed to get down to 160 and looked much better. Unfortunately the damage was already done and I had an in-operable heart attack that left me almost useless. I wasn't allowed to open and close doors. I couldn't even lift 10 pounds. It's now five years later and I finally started feeling better and have a little energy. So I started lifting weights again but right now I can only handly 5 pounds but it's working a tiny little bit at a time. When it comes to picking up that coffee kettle and reaching my arm out to fill it with water I can tell the weights are working. Up until just a week or so ago it actually hurt my shoulder ever time I fill the kettle. But it doesn't hurt now. I still can't do much but I am now moving up to 10 pound weights. My goal is to be able to use my fly rod a little more this coming season. Last year was my first time out fishing in 5 years but I couldn't use my fly rod at that point. I was able to use my spinning road and even paddled the canoe for a while. Most of my moves with weights right now are for strengthening my arms. I do have to walk 40 minutes a day so my legs and heart do get a bit of work out each day or so as well. It was a scary 5 years and I never expected to fish again and fishing is my passion so last summer was a summer I never expected to be fishing. Looking forward to 2009 fishing season with my fly rod.

Wow I hope you get to your goal with the fishing. Good luck and keep at it, lean muscle is a very good thing to have for overall weight control.
