Travelling is a great learning experience…

It not only helps you in seeing the world through your own eyes; but also broadens your perspective of other places, other people, their tradition, rituals and customs in general. Travel to a destination is like flipping through the most extensive piece of information on that place. Above all, it actually brings you face to face with the actual thing in person. I have enjoyed traveling from a very young age; exploring unfamiliar places and finding about them has always excited me a lot. But now, after getting into a full time job, i am not able to find much time for travel. But whenever the opportunity is there, i pack my bags along with my wife and kid and go out on a trip to a remote destination.

Ya it is true! Especially when you travel in public transports you come across a variety of people whom you share your space with. A experience that you would never have while traveling in your own vehicle; in your private space.

Wow, how I envy you! Travelling is a good hobby! I am too lazy to travel outside. I usually stay at home on weekend or holidays. Some of my friends are traveling lovers. The interesting experiences they talked about always attracted me deeply. I will have two weeks' annual leave this year. I still have no idea where to travel.

Come on Kerri! I would like to remind you about a beautiful poem by Robert Frost, which says; "The woods are lovely dark and deep; but i have promises to keep and miles to go, before i sleep, before i sleep." Although it is not essentially about travel; but still it has always coaxed me to carry on and on.

I have same opinions as you. I have been travelling constantly and it helps me grow as a person and expose me to different kind of cultures. Really from travelling I have learn a lot of stuffs, which goes from good , cultures and how people in another countries are like as in personality and howw they view their life how they live their live and behaviors. I think from travelling it teaches me a lot how to live my life too and how should I appreciate what I have right now. I think the more people see the more open their mind is and capable to accept changing in a community. Of course, travelling also is best to relax our mind. I have to bagpack instead of following a trave; agency booking under their trip. Is definitely more exciting for me to explore the places by myself.

When I was a child I went to France and heard the French language and I was lucky enough to learn that for five years. I dreamed of going traveling and made that happen when I was a teenager. I have read many history books but going to a historical site is fascinating. I went to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and learned a great deal. I have read geography books but nothing prepared me for seeing the rivers in New Zealand and tining my walk so I could cross them at low tide. I have been to Kenya and on safari saw many wild animals. It was so interesting to meet the Masai Mara tribe and talk to them. I love snorkeling and have done this with black tipped sharks, nurse sharks, stingrays, a manta ray and dolphins. I am learning Spanish at the moment. I went to Guatemala and climbed the Mayan ruins. With my new language skills I hope to go to South America in the future. I think traveling is the greatest learning experience that there is.

Thanks a lot for sharing your enlightening experience with us. I think that we as humans initially developed as nomads; and probably it was because of those lazy bums that the idea of setting up settlements must have come about. But still i feel that the traveling community is far more richer in experiences; and far more richer in understanding of the complex nature of societies around the world.

Great Buddy! I am sure you will be excited as hell about your planned escapades. But also be careful about having a proper idea of the place that you are planning to embark your journey upon.

i completely agree with you that travelling is a great learning experience. By travelling to different places we also get the knowledge of different culture and traditions present all over the world. Travelling is also more of like a stress buster. It provides us the opportunity to get a change from daily hectic and boring life schedule.

Very True! I really wish if we humans had wings to fly; we would definitely have a wiser head on our shoulders. Traveling to various places gives you so much to grasp first hand; and the best part is that you have live people to answer your FAQs about that region. Thanks a lot for your comments.

Traveling is indeed a great way to explore our inner selves. It has effects beyiond we could perceive. The sub conscious and conscious get so much enriched that we begin to live life more constructively. The constant learning process that the traveling bestows us with is but the impetus of living. I am so glad that you get to travel off and on together with you family. That makes it even more enjoyable and stress free. I hardly get opportunity to travel. But hoping to take a long leave fort the sake of it. having said this, planned travel takes away much adventure from it. Happy traveling!

Very enriching thoughts indeed! The process of learning is actually conforming the make belief that we have in our minds. More elaborately, whatever perceptions we make of a particular thing/object/phenomenon/place; we are able to testify it with our own eyes, when we travel to that place. Whether the earlier perceptions stay or they make way for an altogether new picture; the real impressions are the most powerful ones; lasting the longest.

I do agree with you that traveling is a great learning experience. I have traveled some in my younger days not so much now. But I have always treasured the places I have been. I live in the United States and was born here. But after I graduated High School I went into the service and after basic training, technical school and being stationed at a base in Florida I was sent to Turkey. It was a eye opening experience for me and I value the lessons I learned over there. It was a great experience for me. I have been to a few states in the United States and just living in another state also opened up my eyes. So I do agree with you one hundred percent that travelling is a great learning experience.

Thanks Madam! After reading your thoughts, i am feeling a bit jealous. Despite of the fact that i have had a good share of traveling; there is one thing in life that i still miss doing, and that is joining the services during my younger days. I wish that time would come back; the call letter in my hand, which i received a day after the interview date.

I agree with you. Traveling is an excellent learning experience. It's a way to see and learning about different cultures, see different places. It also gets us to get outside of our box, our everyday lives.

I'm glad to hear that you take your family traveling when you get the opportunity. My mother and father did the same thing when my siblings and I were growing up and those were some of the best times we had. But besides being fun, it was also educational. Good for you, prashantatrohini18. I think you're doing the right thing.
