Firefox "not Responding"

I recently started having a problem with Firefox. When I try to check my Hotmail emails, Firefox freezes up. At the top it says "Firefox not Responding" so I just close it out and use IE. It has only been doing this for the past two weeks. I usually keep my inbox page as my home page, and I found that it is less likely to freeze up if I immediately log out and then log back in again (to hotmail). However this is defeating the purpose of having my inbox as my home page. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, and I have the latest version. Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you using AVG. If so, disable the avg safe search add-on and then see. I too had the same problem and later got solved when i disabled the avg add-ons.

I'll try this. I actually did enable the safe search recently, so maybe that's the problem.

I don't think that will have a big impact. But disabling it works really. I had this problem and kept on irritating me. I asked in many forums but no one had no clues for it. Later i just tried disabling it and it worked

This one seems to be better response for me. I enabled safe search in AVG. Is it safe to disable it?

yeah...me too, having the same problem with MF - V3.0.5 lately. Since 3 days ago and not much can help even though I'd sped up it surfing speed. To turn back to IE will be not much different, so I use alternately with another browser, Avant. A little bit better.

I wonder if there is a way to go back to the previous version, although it did the same thing. I used to like Firefox best, but not if I can't even read my emails. I don't have any problems with any other site, just Hotmail. (I wonder if the problem is hotmail, not Firefox. It works fine in IE, though.)

Yes. I too have some issues. That too after installing their latest version. After quite some experience, I think I found that Firefox freezes when the website contains any Flash object or Acrobat document. May be I am wrong.

Well, actually my problem started before I updated, but updating didn't help. I don't know if the problem is Flash, but I do know that its quite annoying. I usually have a few windows open, and I lose all of them when it freezes up.

I sure have and I have had another simular problem with firefox when I go on my homepage to check my e-mail, or even when I go on mylot. it dosn't freee, it crashes and goes back to my desktop. (I don't even have to close it.) When I hit it again it gives me the option of restoring the pages I had open or start a new session. If I hit restore old session, it goes back to where I left off, keeps me on the page for about 4 or 5 seconds and does it again. Same with when I'm on projet playlist. All of a sudden the song stops and it goes back to my desktop. Now interstingly enough, not for two days. It didn't do it yyesterday and I'm using firefox right now, have been on for about 45 minutes and hasn't crashed. So maybe they fixed the problem. Maybe your problem will go away too. hope so.

Yes seems that everyone is having problems with firefox, it happened to me before i mean by the mid of december but now it ok. It used to crash suddenly and we have to restart and the same things happens so, i was using IE for sometime and now firefox is back to normal here. Even IE has some disadvantage in Script blocking thats why i don't use it much and also it does not have rich add on like the mozilla friefox. Anyway wishing you a very happy new year.

Try disabling/uninstalling any extensions/themes that you have. Also try going into Firefox's safe mode by going to start, run, then typing in Firefox -safe-mode

Hi, I am using minefield (the 64 bit version of Firefox) and it is working quite well. It loads webpages very fast especially when you have multiple tabs. Moreover, the various plugins(addons) can help you achieve almost anything you want. For example, you can use a addon called ietab to view webpage using IE engine in Firefox. After extensive experiences in using Chrome, Firefox and Opera, Firefox is the most powerful browser, while Chrome is the most beautiful one, I also suggest you try Opera, because it is small, light and fast! Happy Mylotting!

Probably some activeX initialization issue conflicting with the firefox security. Why don't you try updating firefox version or check in the firefox site for any fixes/updates release for it.
