The other day my son and his girlfriend were making pancakes for breakfast. When my husband walked into the kitchen, they were happily eating. He looked over at the stove and noticed that the burner was still lit under the pan. He asked them if they were done cooking and my sons girlfriend said "Oh, sorry, I'm not used to cooking with gas." My husband just kinda blinked at her with a quizical look, and so much wanted to ask her "So with electric you just leave it on?" I wish I would have been there because I would have said it!

Hey, that would be cool!!! I can't tell you how many times I've left something on the stove cooking "for a minute" while I checked my e-mail. By the time I could smell it burning it was too late!

Too funny! I probably would have had to say something if I had been there. I could see burning something if you were not used to cooking with gas, but not forgetting to turn it off.

Definitely one of those "priceless" moments!

She was probably embarrased by leaving the burner on and just said the first thing that popped into her head. It was the wrong thing and I'm sure she's beating herself up inside for her mistake on both things, the burner being left on and her silly reply.

You are so right. cooking with gas or electric you still have to turn off the stove. I thought you where going to say something about body functions. heehee

I hace the image in my head of a young woman saying that then immediately blushing because she realized how silly it was. That is so funny. Once, I was dating a guy that was really into music. I was standing in the kitchen and he asked me if there was anything I wanted to listen to. I said, "Could you put that one CD in?" He asked, "Which one?" my reply was, "The one with all those songs." Needless to say, right after it came out of my mouth, I started to laugh and blush. We got a good laugh out of that one for quite a while.

We think she was just embarrassed about leaving the stove on and said the first thing she could think of. It was funny though :)

That is a bit funny. I think I would have had to have said the same thing if I was there and heard that statement come from her mouth.

Yes, I'm like you, I don't think I could have kept my mouth shut, I would have had to say that. It is funny. She was probably embarrassed, I know I would have been.

I'm sure she was too, and it would have made her more embarrassed to make the comment - but it woulda been a GREAT laugh :)

Hi reiny! That's a good one! I would have asked her that too! I think that would have been alot worse if she leaves the electric on! I wouldn't want to be paying her electric bill! That's pretty dangerous too! What was she not thinking? I guess she isn't really used to cooking is she? It's a good think that your husband walked in before she burned the house down! Better keep your eye on her when she's in the kitchen!

Usually my son does the cooking when she's at our house. She's actually a baker by trade, but since we have electric ovens I guess she's ok with that....
