I am a big time beader. I have fun with it. Il ike to create jewelry mostly. Although I don't tend to wear a lot of it I love the way it looks and feels. I would love to make enough money from it but where I'm at there doesn't seem like a great market for it. But thanks to some new friends they've told me about etsy which I haven't tried yet but looking forward to it. I also like to work with a beading loom sometimes. I make bracelets, necklaces, earrings. I just love creating everything and anything. I have even begun making little purses out of beads which takes a lot of time. And also making flowers out of beads which takes even more time but there beauty is so worth it. So what kind of things does everybody else make? Have you found some really good free patterns on the web? Feel free to discuss anything in reguards to beading!

my cell phone bag - I used peyote stitch to make it.
I like to bead weave, and I've made things for gifts and the like, even sold a few things. This is the cell phone pouch I made for my phone.

Well, I didn't know I was making a cell phone bag until I needed a bag for my cell phone. then I adapted this thing I had been making into a bag, and it wasn't hard.

That is really pretty! It must have took a while to create it. But it looks like it was worth it in the end :)

I do a bit of beadweaving, mostly using brick stitch, as I find that most natural. and I like making jewellery with beads, and have just recently started working with Precious Metal Clay, which is brilliant stuff to work with.

PMC is the name of the product. it's a clay made with silver, with water and a binder to make it a clay. when you heat it with a blowtorch or a kiln, the water and binder burn off, leaving you with something made of silver. another well known brand is called Art Clay Silver. I haven't used this, but understand it's pretty similar. so I've been making beads, and also pendants out of silver. it's great fun.

Sounds really interesting. I would love to have a kiln but I can't afford one of those and I'm not sure if I would trust myself with a torch. But it sounds really pretty and different to work with. Maybe when my hubby and I buy are house we will have enough room.

I should know this but is Precious Metal Clay the name of the company or is that the actual product? I just started doing beadweaving last year but I'm not very good at using the brick stitch. I have to peynote down and a few others but I dont know the technical name of it.

I taught myself beading probably 6 months ago. I like doing it. I see a lot of designers on Etsy. I think beading is very competitive from what I see. I see some design on auntiebead.com that I thought were good. I have not tried any patterns so I can't recommend any.

Wow, i got a lot of neat ideas reading everybody's responses. I make jewelry but mostly necklaces, bracelets and anklets. I would love to learn to do more but haven't looked into it. When I was pregnant with my son thats all I would do was make jewelry all day.

Jewelry making is a nice past time. I love it and the creativity that comes to you when your createing this helps too. There's a lot of great sites that show different patterns and such. Also you can buy books pretty cheap on ebay on how to bead or even on paperbackswap too.

My son uses beads on his Hemp bracelets and chokers. He is so talented when it comes to stuff like that. He makes them look so nice I have tried but mine look awful. I have seen some very nice beaded purses sell for a high dollar amount. You may try looking into a store that does cosignments. They may be able to offer you a decent amount for what you do. Good luck and happy mylotting.

I an't stand working with Hemp. That's great your son enjoys making crafts and that's really great he's talented in it too! And I will look into the cosignment shops. Where I live there's very few because we have so many good wills that are really cheap. But thanks for giving me a suggestion!!

Hi! I am not a beader myself but i tried to design my own earrings.. I am more into sewing like crosstitch and crocheting., Like you, i want to create different things and experiment. How do you make beads out of flowers? I might as well try to do it one of this days..Regards!

Actually you make flowers out of beads. Meaning you create each individual leaf and put them togetheir to create a flower. It takes a lot of time and patience to create even just one leaf. But it's an everlasting flower though. And you make them out of seed beads around size 11 so if that could help you imagine how much time and work they take. And I have crosstitched or crocheted but I'm not really any good yet. But hopefully someday :) And thanks for making your first post with me! Enjoy Mylotting!! ANd if you have any questions feel free to ask me!!
