You must have already heard of the night club that went into flames in Thailand last New year's, which claimed lives of people.
While the rest of the world is celebrating the coming of the New Year, many Thai families are grieving over their dead in a tragic fire that led to the death of about 60 people and the wounding of 200 others. I am not sure if more people have already died.
It was reported that most of the victims died from smoke inhalation or were trampled in a rush to get out of the club. The fire broke out just after midnight in the upscale Bangkok nightclub Santika where about 1,000 revelers were welcoming the New Year. What tough luck.
It is such a sad thing to happen. I may not be Thai, but I feel for the families of the victims. Whoever really is to blame, I am not sure. One is sure though-- that people are dead or injured and incapacitated. They went there to party and celebrate the New Year, instead, they either ended up injured or dead. And their families would also be grieving for them.
My husband sometimes says that I am paranoid, but really, there is no price to precaution when things could have been avoided.
Santika is reportedly in one of Bangkok's busiest commercial districts. And since it is a swanky club, I figured that it was designed by a professional and maintained in order that mishaps could be avoided. The club's website features images of bands and DJs performing on both indoor and outdoor stages.
Incidentally, the New Year's Party was entitled Goodbye Santika. Was in an omen?
I dunno. But I am so sad for the dead people now. And their families, too.
What are your thoughts on this unfortunate accident in Thailand? Are you aware of this?
