Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Today I tried to make cinnamon raisin bread, but it didn't come out very well. I didn't use a recipe, I just thought if I added a bit of cinnamon and some raisins to a regular white bread recipe it would come out well. But it didn't, it was rather bland. Have you ever made cinnamon raisin bread? How did you make it? Did it come out good? I'll have to search for a recipe to make a decent cinnamon raisin bread, which recipe do you use?

Whenever you use cinnamon, you need to add sugar. Try the recipe again, but add sugar and a bit more fat to make it richer.

Yeah I did end up doing it right, but it came out more like cinnamon rolls than bread. Oh well, at least I know how to make cinnamon rolls next time I want to do that!

Hi katsmeow, You are certainly cooking up a storm lately. sorry, but I cannot help yo with this one as I have never made cinnamon bread but if it was bland then perhaps you should have added more cinnamon or soaked the raisins in cold tea to plump them up a biot. I don't know. I am only guessing.LOL I am sure that you will get many responses on this one. Blessings

I found a recipe and realize what I did wrong, and how to fix it. I added enough cinnamon, but needed more sugar to make the cinnamon sweeter. I'm going to give it a try again either tonight or tomorrow.

I was going to suggest adding some extra sugar to the dough, but I see you already figured that out. Cinnamon Raisin Bread is a sweet bread, so it needs the extra sugar in it to make it taste right.

I see that you have pretty much figured out about the sugar and cinnamon. May i suggest that you roll the dough out sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon on it then roll the dough back up and let it raise from there. I have made cinnamon rolls a lot but never cinnamon bread. When I have bought cinnamon or raisin bread the slice look like the loaf was spread out and the raisin cinnamon and sugar sprinkle on then rolled up to raise for baking.

Yeah, well I followed the recipe that I found and it was delicious. I probably won't do the bread anymore, because it tasted a lot like cinnamon rolls and not bread. Next time I will just do the rolls.

I've made it before, but using my bread machine. I added a big handful of raisins plus a mixture of sugar and cinnamon right at the end of the cycle so that the machine didn't mix it too thoroughly. Delicious toasted with butter and fruit jam at breakfast time :-)

lol on the bright side if you have a daughter, the first time she messes up a recipe you can tell her that, or if you have a son, you can reassure your daughter in law one day :P lol good stories like that are also treasures, keep them safe :D As for recipes, when I need a recipe, I go to recipezaar.com I LOVE THAT PLACE SO INCREDIBLY MUCH!!! I like recipegoldmine.com better. I also use allrecipes.com, but I've used recipezaar once in awhile as well.
